Semi Trailer Cut In Half In Train Collision
May 5, 2015
The trailer of a semi-truck hauling auto parts was literally cut in half in a collision with a train Monday afternoon in Brewton. There were no injuries in the 4 p.m. crash at the Highway 31 and Highway 41 intersection. Photo by Alisa Hart for NorthEscambia.com, click to enlarge.

There are 2 different cameras watching that intersection. One by The City of Brewton that can be accessed from City of Brewton homepage. The other camera is run by DOT they don’t publish it to the web. You can watch the DOT camera that is in Flomaton close to Hardee’s from the DOT web site.
I think the cameras are monitored by AL DOT during hurricanes and evacuations. I don’t think they are monitored by the local police. There are cameras at I-65 and 113 too. Same deal.
If the THOUGHT, SOUND and SIGHT of a TRAIN coming toward you doesn’t stop some folks from crossing the track when the lights are flashing, I don’t see how a camera or fine is going to keep them safer.
Pictures like this one will definitely make folks stop and think!
I am thankful no one was hurt. I wonder if camera’s were put up, so when folks try beating the train after the lights were indicating a train is coming, if a fine were imposed. I wonder if the might keep folks safer?
