Operation Works To Clean Up Cottage Hill

May 22, 2015

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office held a  Clean Sweep operation Thursday morning in the Cottage Hill area.

The focus of “Operation Clean Sweep” was to work with the Cottage Hill Neighborhood Watch group, residents, churches and business owners to control and prevent the damaging effects of criminal activity, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Volunteers also worked throughout the day to clean trash and debris from alongside neighborhoods streets.

During Thursday’s event, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office issued 16 traffic citations, and a dozen sex offender addresses were verified. There were 10 code violations cited, and 20 tons of debris was removed. There were no arrests reported.

The event was hosted by the Cottage Hill Neighborhood Watch. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office plans their next Clean Sweep for June 18 in the Maxwell Street area.

Seems to me everyone’s concerns is about trash pick up.Tuesday is regular trash day if you put out by the road they will pick it up if you separate your piles already just not huge mountains.

It’s all irrelevant anyway. All for show, and of course, the citations. Everyone always applauds FWC, ECSO, etc. for enforcing all the “laws” which i suppose is good. The primary motivation however, a revenue source.
I picked up a couple on the river who’s small boat capsized. When dropping them at the landing, FWC jumps out the bushes and tickets me for not having enough life jackets. Tried to fight in court showing the dangers of a high river level. Ultimately had to pay. Guess next time i’ll have to say, “Sorry, don’t have enough life vests.”

Gman, it cost money to pick up and dispose of trash. That’s why it’s not free once a month

Linda is correct. They missed Wishbone Road and Wishbone lane. We spent over an hour on hold with Code Enforcement and no one would pick up. We were told code enforcement was in charge by ECUA. Maybe some one will read this that knows who to call

This was a joke. They left their own bags of garbage dumped half in the gutter and on the road side of my street. They hardly picked up anything. It looks more like they went through people’s trash piles and selected what if anything to take away. And where was the notice that this was going to take place? I didn’t know about it until I saw the trucks roll through.

    “There were no arrests reported”.

Wow. We’ve come along way since TAC was disbanded.

They must have forgotten Wishbone Rd here in Cottage Hill, my debris is still here in front of my house. All my neighbors stuff too.

Don t understand why the county does not have a free pick once a month in every neighborhood for any trash placed for pick up. I’m sure the 20 tons of debris was just the tip of the ice berg.
