New Video Visitation System Online At Santa Rosa County Jail

April 28, 2015

A new video visitation system is now in place at the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Immediate family, relatives and friends will be able to visit with inmates from the comfort of their homes witha computer with a webcam and internet access.  The service is also available on Android and iPhones. The new visitation system will expand available visitation hours, and provide visitation to those unable to visit the facility in person.

The visit works just like a phone call — no jail personnel are involved in connecting the visit. And, unlike other visitation systems, there is no need to involve jail personnel to schedule visits in advance.

There is no cost to the jail or to taxpayers for the equipment or installation. Maintenance is covered, at no charge, for the life of the contract. The system will eliminate movement of inmates from housing areas for visitations.

The new visitation system gives the jail complete control of visits at all times with live monitoring, recording of all calls, and database access to visitation records.

The system charges $0.50 per minute for calls made using the video visitation system and all calls are billed in one minute increments, with a required minimum call length for one minute. The system will only process prepaid calls and messages. Calls charged to a third party or credit cards are not permitted.

Free video visitation is available in the jail lobby from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday- Friday. From 5:01 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., payable visitation is available seven days a week in the jail lobby.

For more information, click here. Visitors must register in advance.

My son is in Santa Rosa Jail and it helps me tremendously to have him do a video visit with me.
I need these video visits. I didnt do anything wrong and I should not be punished by limiting my visit with my son.
So I say thank you Santa Rosa for helping us the family members to communicate with our loved ones.

I’d say it would be “legal” to place the scratch offs next to the atm, not slot machines. The very idea is proposterous.

Will you please educate yourselves just a little before posting. Go to website, the visitation is free from 8- 5 Mon – Fri. Florida jails only have to provide 2 hours of visitation per week. If you want to visit outside of the 2 hours, then you have to pay. Tax payers do not pay for these systems, they use the inmate welfare fund and all proceeds from the system go back into the fund to provide programs to inmates (read Florida State Statues). That jail is using funds to establish a reentry program for inmates from the welfare fund- read the information on the website. All jails offer ATM’s for family members to place money on their accounts for commissary and for collect phone calls. I researched this all in 30 minutes, please do the same.

Maybe this will cut down on cell phones and drugs in prison. This way the only way they can get them is the guards. Now problem is stopping the guards from being suppliers of this contraband.

Prisons and jails have become profitable markets for many companies. HOME WAVE, the vendor for this system, provides the equipment for free and then charges inmates families $30 per hour for a skype like video call. It does not take long to pay for the equipment and after that 100% PROFIT. I am in the wrong business!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe they could get video poker machines next, to go with that ATM. LOL!

How about using that money for therapy and better rehabilitation?
