I knew her since the sixth grade. I saw her walking in the direction of the tracks on my way home but didn’t think to wave hello as I passed by in my car. She will be dearly missed, we all loved her so much.

Sorry for the grief your family must endure.I lost a grandchild 2 year old Conner due to a tragic drowning death and I know all too well the grief and pain that follows and wonder why our loved ones and the only thing that I can say is if we didn’t have faith in God we wouldn’t have made it through.May God bless all who loves her and help you find peace and celebrate her life

Jimmy Elliot, you need to find an adult you can talk to, you sound like you need that, please don’t blame God or question him like that, you sound like you need him yourself.

Katelyn was my best friend and has been since sixth grade. We have so many amazing memories together, and it’s hard to imagine her not being here anymore. To think I’ll never see her face again or hear her laugh kills me. I miss her so much. I had to drive by the tracks she was struck on and I broke down. My prayers are going to her mom, who was once my algebra teacher at FPMS. I can’t even begin to imagine what she is going through right now.

She was a really close friend of mine. She will be dearly missed. She was always helping out with everything. She was very close to me and she will be missed very much. She shouldn’t have been killed cuz she had such a bright future ahead of her no matter what happens she will always be in my heart…

Katelyn was in my third period Geometry class. She liked to listen to music in class and often we could hear it through her headphones. I will miss her so much. Her family and friends are in my prayers.

In addition to the family and friends of the student, my thoughts are also with the person running the train who also has to live with this tragedy.

I am originally from Pensacola but have lived the past 11 years in rural Mississippi. We have 1 high school to accommodate the entire county and this school year was our biggest population yet at 7 00 students. In Jan. 2012, we had an accident that killed 4 out of the 5 passengers in the truck. Students are still haunted by that event and band together on the anniversary of the accident. The 2011-2012 school year saw the deaths of 6 students. The Tate kids will need support and be allowed to join together in mourning. For a lot of them this will be their first time dealing with the death of someone their own age and that can be hard to handle. I know from experience that the mourning process will be just as long as for the actual family members. Let them work it out in their own time frame, but be readily available when they need you. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and the Tate High School family.

Praying for this family, and friends. This is the third student from Tate in a week. We need to take time to love our children as often as possible. Remind them how awesome they are, and to appreciate all the funny, silly, and just stupid things that our kids do. If nothing these kids have learned over the past week is how fast it could all just end. And to this girls family, she obviously meant a lot to her friends, and hopefully ya’ll and her friends can find some kind of comfort from one another. Her friends are gonna need yall as much as yall are gonna need them.

My heart is broken. Tate has had too many loses lately. The students, friends and families have had so much grief. My prayers are with them. I work in a school clinic, and I will always tell my students love you. I can’t imagine losing any of them. God bless the families of these children.
