Tate Head Football Coach Ronnie Douglas Resigns

March 13, 2015

Tate High School’s Ronnie Douglas has resigned after two seasons as head football coach.

Douglas said he must take care of his outside car wash businesses. He told his coaching staff of the decision Thursday.

He led the Aggies on two trips to the playoffs in his two seasons with a 8-3 record in his first season and a 9-3 record in his second season. The back-to-back play off appearances were the first for the Tate Aggies since the 1976 and 1977 seasons. Before Douglas, the Aggies won a four total games during three seasons.

FloridaHighSchoolFootball.com also named Douglas as the All-Panhandle Coach of the Year.

Ronnie, what can we say…You brought back excitement to our football program. Thank you to you and your assistants for doing such an incredible job! May God Bless you with whatever is in your future. We will miss you!

Vapor is absolutely correct. PHS consistently has the most talent in the area and they should be competing for state titles each and every year, yet they are more of a perennial disappointment rather than power

At “the vapor” what are you talking about? Mike Bennett has put more players to the next level and has kept even more players off the street each and every year. Not many people could handle what he had to deal with each and every day! I can tell your one of those parents that A) has no idea about football or being a head coach or B) You never been around an enter city school and seen the problems going on there. Bennett would be perfect for the job. Him being a Tate alumni and well known in the area by the kids and parents would help build Tates program even more! Ronnie Douglas you did a great job and you will be missed by many.

Ronnie, will miss running to computer every Sat. morning to get the story from North Escambia to see you and your coachs and boys and the winning score. Been my son’s friend since the two of you were kids running from my house to your house. God has been so good to you and will always be with you and Coach or not I will always love you. Best wishes and God Bless.

Oh wow. He did a great job for Tate. I went to Tate many years ago. I don’t think we ever won a game. I was so proud of Tate the last few years and how well they did on the football field. Hope they find another good coach. Go Aggies…

Coach Douglas, although we understand, The Aggie Nation will miss you. You have been a great head coach, but most important, you are a great man and an awesome role model for TATE. You will be missed and will go down in our history books as a coach that took Tate to the next level in many areas. Yes sir, one is football but you respected the boys who played for you. We fans that watch before you came and while you were here we could see such a great difference. You respect them and the will respect you. God has sure been proud of you. We love you and appreciate you more than words can express.

Oh wow!!! My grandson played under Coach Ronnie the coaches’ first season. We were all so excited and as it goes, TATE followers will travel! We didn’t miss a game. We didn’t have a football player this past season but have a varsity cheerleader. Once again, we didn’t miss a game. It’s been a great two years and Coach will be missed. We will still support our AGGIES no matter what happens next… God speed Coach Ronnie.
    GOOOOO AGGIES

I hope they pick a GOOD replacement. A big school like Tate deserves to have a great coach . . . with so much talent to choose from.
