Daniel “Guy” Prothro

Daniel “Guy” Prothro, a proud Korean War Veteran, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015. He was born March 20, 1933, in Lamar County, Alabama, to Jim Richard Prothro and Jimmie “Nell” Brock Prothro. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne division. “Sarge,” loved spending time with his family, playing dominoes with his friends, NASCAR racing, Blue Wahoos baseball games, and especially Alabama football.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 52 years, and best friend, Vicki Mitchell Prothro; daughters Joy (Mike) Lasseter and Sharon (Gene) Cochran; son Stanley; grandchildren, Kelsi (Jesse) Finley, Kalin Lasseter, Keely Cochran, and Josh McCormick; and great-granddaughters, Bailey and Rylee Finley. He will also be missed by his large extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 5, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Faith Chapel North Funeral Home in Cantonment.

Funeral services will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Bill Flannigan of Plainview Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola.

Pallbearers will be Buck Kelly, Ronnie Carden, Josh McCormick, Gene Wiggins, Phillip Odom, and Mike Lasseter.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Guy’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
