R.I.P brother thank you for your service!!
Rest in Peace Brother. You will be missed!!
I think more than the general public the “harley guys” understand that there is an inherent risk in any activity you choose. What they also understand is that you only have one life and they live theirs to the fullest. Yes, helmets have saved lives but there have been fatalities of riders who were wearing them as well so that makes the debate over helmet vs no helmet useless. The point is that this was a good man, a father, husband, friend and he will be missed. RIP Shadow.
RIP my friend it was indeed a honor to have associated with you.
RIP my Brother… Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family and loved ones… Rest easy Brother… Your Brothers & Sisters of the USMV M/C are morning for you…

I have had the pleasure to meet this wonderful man, brother, son, husband,Friend, and a Veteran, as I sit here in Alabama, coming from Florida myself,I can understand the desire to go without a helmet, there’s nothing like the wind in your hair, sun on my face, and the open road.I have lost dear friends who had worn helmets and have not,its not a cool thing, its a feeling one who has never tried could never understand. The point here is we lost a good man who served his and your country, respect is earned.R.I.P. Shadow, your free.God Bless to the family.
Ride on, Ride Free Brother. You will be missed but certainly not forgotten.
I lost a brother and friend in this wreck. I am proud to have known him and rode with him on several riders. Nobody could meet a better person. R.I.P my brother.
He was the hands and feet of Christ to my family 6 months ago when my daughter had a plane accident. He has added a huge light to heaven, and I pray God’s blessings on his family. Would that I could be as much a servant of God that he was!
This Army RANGER, this man was a good friend to a true friend of mine who happened to be his riding partner. He was a well respected man. He was a Veteran. He will be missed. He was riding with his friend, his Brother, and it was a good day. Rest easy RANGER, rest easy, your job here is done.
R I P young man. Prayers for the family.
Helmets save more lives than they take, just like seat belts save more lives than they take. My life was saved at 16 by wearing a helmet. But, you must wear it for it to help. If you drive a car, you must wear a seat belt. Kids must be buckled into safe car seats etc. But if you ride two wheels you are not required to wear any safety equipment. One must wonder why, or why not.
None of that matters of course. Whats important right now is the pain the family is going through. So sorry for your loss. Words will never ease your pain. Time will not lessen it. But peace will come in time. Prayers for you all.
I had the fortune to ride with this man on many occasions both in large and small groups and he was an excellent rider and safe. I never worried about him being next to me so knock it off with the maybes. RIP brother you will be severly missed by all
R.I.P. Brother – you’ll be missed. For those of you who rant and rave about how a helmet would possibly have saved his life, hush. I’ve seen heads completely exploded inside their eggs, eyes bugged out of their head, and worse. Riding is a life choice, not an attempt to “look cool”. Only those who truly ride, understand this. Riding is about being free, to a great extent, and feeling the wind and sun on your face, while cruising the roads of America is a form of freedom cagers will never know; they’re too busy trying to see around all the obstructions built into their vehicles. Shawn’s riding with a freedom none of us has ever known now. God be with you Brother.
R.I.P my Brother, we will see each other in the forever chapter one day! You will be missed…..
This is a very sad time for this family. He was a husband, father, son, and friend. I pray God will be with his family and friends. I also pray for the people that witnessed this. It is an image that will never be forgotten. I pray God will be with family, friends, and witnesses. Please bring them peace. Heal their hearts and souls and give them strength. He is in heaven. In no more pain. Just remember the time away from him is only temporary. Y’all will see him again. If he does live in Florida. The family could go to the senate. Make a helmet law in his name. That way he will never be forgotten by no body. Just an idea.
GBNF R.I.P. Brother you will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. LL&R
God Speed ! R. I. P. Our Prayers go out.
RIP my brother..
R.I.P. Brother…We that ride, all know what we are up against. The only thing I have an objection about is the fact that the media continues to state whether the rider was wearing a helmet or not….regardless the injury that caused the death. i have been riding over 40 yrs. I have lost friends WITH helmets and without helmets. Helmets are rarely much good after a certain speed and can snap your neck. I know this to be true. So let’s leave that subject alone…most likely this poor man died of natural causes or other injury. Respect his family and do not put the blame on him wanting to look ‘cool’ . You people that judge have no idea.
RIP Brother. Praying for the family and friends during this hard time.
RIP Brother
R.I.P MY DEAR COUSIN SHAWN, I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ARE GONE. PLEASE PRAY FOR MY COUSIN LEAH AND THEIR 2 BOYS JUSTIN AND HUNTER. I’M HEARTBROKEN.
Please pray for my cousin and her 2 boys, Shawn was a wonderful man and will be “DEARLY” missed
As a rider, I shy away from group riding. It looks cool, but I’ve witnessed two crashes that were caused from other riders in the groups. In both cases, a life was lost.
I pray for the family of this rider; 51 is way too young to perish. God Bless.
My prayers go out to his family and friends May God bless each one oy you.
@me.. That was a narrow minded statement.. I ride a Harley and wear boots, gloves W/fingers covered and a full coverage helmet.. I see many doing the same and others not wearing proper gear.. It isn’t the vehicle it’s the rider.. I see Sportbike riders in shorts, flip flops and no helmet but there’s also plenty of them wearing full gear also.. I’m one who thinks there should be a helmet law..
Please, save your helmet judgements, the man’s death could have been from some other injury. I’d never ride without a helmet, but freedom of choice is not a bad thing.
That said, riding a streetbike is now more dangerous than ever before, due to texting and cellphone usage while driving.
There is no telling what happened here, but a moment of distraction from guiding the 6 or 7 hundred pound machine, suddenly finding yourself riding on grass instead of pavement & trying to get back on pavement, might have had something to do with what befell the poor guy.
It is interesting to note that a special riding suit that works similar to car airbags is now available.
Statistics show you are 30 times likely to die in a motorcycle accident than in an automobile. If you want to increase this wear helmet, hi-vis clothing with armor, and most important “no sudden moves, stay with the flow” cagers can’t see y’all they
have a,b,c pillar blind spots. Leather looks cool, but its hard to see in the color spectrum, hi-viz yellow is the way to go.
Praying for the family
The Harley guys just cant take a few minutes and put on a helmet. They have to look cool I guess. A helmet may have saved the mans life but he was to cool.
I trailed the cyclists, for a number of minutes. It was a warm, sunny day and the roads were dry. The two “guys”, — I presume both cyclists were male — were just cruising along, laid back, and looking cool. They gradually pulled out from me as I had my cruise control below. When I passed over the top of the hill shown in the image above, heading North, I could not believe my eyes. I could not imagine what could have happened, because I didn’t see anything in the road; They were not traveling too fast when they were visible; If there were an animal, his partner, on the other cycle, would have most plausibly seen it and reported it; I don’t recall a sharp curve leading up to that hill; I wondered did something on the bike malfunctioned, or did he fall asleep; or maybe reacted to getting too close to the other biker. The image confirmed there was no tire blow out. I was saddened by what I saw, and prayed. I can’t sleep at the moment; I don’t understand what could have happened.
We passed this today on our way home and it hurt to see this. I had to stop and pray for him and his family. So very sorry for the loss and I will continue to pray for the friends and family to find peace and comfort during this time.
He was an amazing man and I am proud to call him family. Rest in peace big cousin. You are already so missed. We love you.
Rest in peace our friend, only he knows what happened, a animal, something in the road, we will never know. The bike looks great, but it was he’s time to go home. Be strong family, he was called home, time will heal and memories will always be there.
So sad!!! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family!!!
I wonder if something medically happened to him. That curve there is not a sharp one or hidden one.. helmets do save lives but a person has to choose to wear one…
Prayers to the family of this poor man. Everyone please be careful out there.
