Narcotics Search Warrants Net Three Arrests In Century

February 10, 2015

Three people were arrested after the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and a SWAT team executed two search warrants in Century.

One search warrant was served in the 7000 block of Hadley Lane.  Deputies reported finding Henry Brown of Century inside the residence along with 75 grams marijuana, a hydrocodone pill, 6.6 grams of cocaine, about six grams of crack cocaine, 8.7 grams of oxycodone pills, two grams of alprazolam, 10.4 grams of methadone and a digital scale with cocaine residue.  Deputies also seized about $1,080 in cash from Brown’s front pocket.

Brown was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $26,000 bond.

Officers reported finding 47-year old James Lewis Carnley of Cantonment in a detached shed in the backyard of the Hadley Road home with several hypodermic needles on the floor around him that he said he used to inject cocaine.  He was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Carnley remained in the Escambia County Jail Tuesday morning with bond set at $12,000.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit and a SWAT team executed a second search warrant on West Pond Street where they reported finding 28-year old Brian Keith Sanders inside the residence along with over 100 Lortab pills, small bags of marijuana, crack cocaine ad various drug paraphernalia.  Inside Sanders’ Monte Carlo outside the residence, deputies reported finding a digital scale with cocaine residue and a loaded .45 caliber pistol. The pistol and vehicle were seized.

Sanders was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone), possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sanders was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $29,500 bond.

Mr Brown obviously did not know that one of his customers had been arrested and was working as an informant, effecting a controlled buy with marked bills.

I am surprised that there are not more murders in that area.

TAC, you did say you hoped not to attend to your brothers funeral from a bad day usage as you had to to your mothers funeral & you did say you wanted others to view this case from a family’s view, so speaking the truth must have understood you. Maybe I’m not understanding either.

Just saying, I got it, maybe people have to use specific words for you,(crackhead, methhead), some people can’t read between the lines & has to be spelled out for them, maybe you need to reread both of our comments, to understand mine.

    @Speaking the truth,

You failed to comprehend what I said or what the intent of my post was. So, allow me to reiterate. I said nothing of what took our mother specifically. I never once uttered a word that said anyone was to over look an action of my brother or family. Matter of fact I said that as an adult he is responsible for making his own decisions. I further added I wished/prayed that he would have made better decisions than the ones he is currently making. I also said nothing about how people should view him or me for that matter. I DID say that I wish there wasn’t so much hate over all. That was a broad statement- meaning, look around you. No matter your city, state, origin, race, creed, age,… we are surrounded by hatred. People in general for the most part are desensitized to crime, hate, murder, or deaths. Therefore, do not try to rewrite my life story (or my posts) due to the fact that you may have a personal issues with your own.

This is an open forum. Say what you wish over all. But when you specifically come at me by way of ignorance because you failed to read in its entirety or you have a lack of understanding basic english. Yes, I’ll have a problem with you. Or anyone for that matter. What I did not do was comment on this form. Attack anyone or point fingers. I don’t try to automatically judge (good or bad). It isn’t my place. I take life in stride. One day at a time, I love life and I enjoy it. I’ve never did drugs and I know outside of them there is a better life for those who do. Now that was my point.

To close: I glad you took yourself and your children away from it -Whatever it may be. Wishing you and yours good things in life because that’s ultimately what we all deserve.

    @speaking the truth,

I fail to see where you actually spoke the truth. TAC didnt say anything about making excuses for her family nor did she say that their mother was a crackhead. She said her mother died from “a bad day of usage”. She didn’t say what she was using, only that it was something that killed her. Could have been any number of things beside crack.
What she said about her family was that they don’t approve of his lifestyle, but she wants people to understand that they still love her brother despite his bad choices.
I’m proud of her for choosing a different life for herself and her children, and I understand exactly what her post meant.
Try rereading it. You didn’t get it the first time.

There is something wrong with a system that allows these thugs to be put back on the streets with such a low bail. What’s up with the Judges that we elect?

  9. Speaking the truth on February 11th, 2015 6:30 am

TAC, let me see if I understand what you’re saying, you don’t have contact because you don’t want to be around it, but yet everybody else is supposed to try &understand & look for excuses for your family & not voice their opinions when you said even your momma was a crackhead, I’m sorry I’m must be missing something because I too stay away from certain kinds & keep my kids away, but unlike you, u really don’t care if they talk about my family or not as long as it’s the truth, I’m not gonna get upset just because people speak or type the truth, as long as they don’t judge me as part of them, but you see I’ve come to realize, my situation that is, is I’m the wrong one from staying away, so some people never win, I don’t even go around @ holidays & don’t want anything from them either especially if they don’t have the money but spending anyway, me & my kids understand & don’t expect anything, yes I have raised my kids to not expect gifts, I’ve tried raising my kids to just want to be around family, yes it is hard for kids to understand when they can’t be around certain ones, but it’s others who chose certain ones over them, but some think we’re too good to be around them it’s not that it’s I don’t want to be around that kind of people, because if my kids ended up on their drugs or cigs, in a way it would be my fault for having them around, so I choose not to be around those kind, now when kids are grown & they make those choices they’re to blame on their own, because I would have taught them, so don’t be telling people to overlook your family, if their in that kind of stuff they will get business & they won’t care who or what or what age & if you know anything instead of hearing & not do anything about it, you’re @ blame too, but to me you sound 2 sided, & as for Century, imagine it as a crime town & you’ll have your new image. ALL CRIMES HAVE VICTIMS!!!!!! There is no such thing as a victimless crime.

  10. Wow on February 11th, 2015 2:58 am

i want to say TAC you said every thing I was thinking he just don’t realize how bad it hurts his kids we was praying that this time he would Have changed

  11. brenda on February 10th, 2015 10:30 pm

I live in century and its beautiful those that don’t know our forgotten town need to SHUT UP! we need to pray about our town so many people have different things to say and they be right down there behind close doors the only thing is that they didn’t get caught.every where you go there are drugs and guns I hate that it is here but that’s life and for the smart ones that’s talking about business maybe if they hadn’t took what little business we had they wouldn’t have to turn to drugs.instead of writing little funny stuff so the people can have something to laugh at try helping to get our town back so we raise our children in a somewhat clean environment.

  12. Just saying on February 10th, 2015 10:11 pm

I went to school with both of the older ones, and, yes, you’d damned well better believe that I’ll tell them both to their faces that this is just flat out stupid!!! If any of them are just trying to feed their kids…there are plenty of better ways to do that. This is not the way you want to raise children!

  13. Denzel on February 10th, 2015 8:40 pm

Free my homeboy. He just tryna feed his kids. Bet yall hatin on him would not say a word to his face.

  14. melodies4us on February 10th, 2015 8:13 pm

Mr. Brown, if you died trying to make an honest living , it would be better than this. You are aiding people towards their death.

  15. Born Optimist on February 10th, 2015 5:17 pm

I live and work in Century and I for one am proud of that. Regardless of what crime exists. Please neighbors don’t fall under the impression that crime only happens in Century crime happens where ever free will exists. Furthermore if you don’t like Century and the possibility of criminal activity then you should feel free to exercise the part of your free will that allows that you pick up and move to a new city perhaps even a new state. Although unfortunately free will will exist there as well. But at least you will have a new city/town to complain about. Happy trails.

  16. TAC on February 10th, 2015 1:18 pm

Coming from a family member. I hate that some will never know how good their life could have been and the love they missed out on due to their love of chasing the next high. My heart hurts but my common sense and expectancies realize their choices to them are their choices, not mine nor what I’d wish for him. Prayers always. No matter what you’re still my brother. I just hope we don’t have to attend your funeral based off of a bad day of usage as we had to our mother’s.

For all of you are are commenting about justice and what should or shouldn’t happen. Try seeing these situations from their family members view.

For all of you who simply have no heart and no compassion to see situations as these from a family members point of view. Your place is no deeper in hell than the one using. So, don’t think we are happy about this. As I stated above, we love them. They are family. And although, I believe they should have their day in court. It’s their decision to ruin their life. We didn’t request it of them. Nor do we approve. Personally, I have no contact because I’ll not be a part of the usuage. And that’s MY decision.
I get exhausted at the hate disbursed through social media. This specific story hit home. The hate of other’s feels personal.

    Think before you speak (type).

Thanks ESCO, please continue efforts, I think an emergency change in schedule for the clean sweep is in order. Century government please contact ESCO about this @Beautiful, Century is still here and It’s coming back, I hope a new sheriff will turn his attention here and a new politician in District 5 commission will take responsibility for this part of his district instead of saying I support ya’ll over there. (Like it’s not his own..irked me to no end)

  19. mick on February 10th, 2015 9:35 am

It’s a sad state of affairs when the time, money and manpower used to find and arrest these scumbags results in the vermin out on bail…knowing that the money put up to bail out these scumbags comes from illegal sources ie: the illicit sale of drugs…their day in court should happen at the scene of the arrest by sworn law enforcement officers testifying to the facts.. be done with them put them in a cage..,wheres judge dred when you need him…

  20. tg on February 10th, 2015 9:05 am

Century needs to reach out to Merk and Phizer they have a workforce in place of manufacturing and sales. I see a industry posability.

  21. Resident on February 10th, 2015 8:38 am

    >>>but that’s the problem with a retail business….all your money is tied up in inventory.

Maybe the bigger dealers should enter the Century Business Challenge for the $25K. It would give them working capital, plus a location right there on Pond Street in the middle of the action. Perhaps they could team up and a couple of dealers go into business together rather than splitting the market.

  22. BT on February 10th, 2015 8:28 am

The guy had marijuana, hydrocodone, cocaine, crack cocaine, oxycodone, alprazolam, and methadone? It’s great to have all those product lines, but that’s the problem with a retail business….all your money is tied up in inventory.

I’m betting he didn’t collect and report sales tax, either. Maybe he’s a wholesale dealer.

  23. slogan contest on February 10th, 2015 8:23 am

Century has that slogan contest going on. How about these:

Century, Home Of Pond Street Pharmaceuticals
Century, Don’t Worry, Your Dealer Has Bond Money
Century Business Center: Where Dime Bags Are 10 for $1 Everyday!

  24. Oversight on February 10th, 2015 8:17 am

There are plenty more “entrepreneurs” in and around Century, so the business challenge’s 25 grand from the city is only pocket change.

  25. rasbone on February 10th, 2015 8:14 am

Anyone still wondering why there is no major motel in Century?

  26. Beautiful on February 10th, 2015 8:05 am

Now this little sweet town were we came to visit from Atmore to our grandma in Century ,to get fig, pears, sugar cane, plums. Have now turn to Nothing but drugs, shooting, Killing, etc. So sad, to hear n read about the sweet little town turn out like this. The last time I was in Century was for my cousin funeral.I believe it was the early part of 2014.March 8, 2014. Goodbye to the little sweet town.God bless.

This is the real Century Business Challenge, and these are the close neighbors of the Century Business Center.

  28. Wow on February 10th, 2015 8:00 am

it is sad that someone could choose drugs and prison over his kids

  29. Bob C. on February 10th, 2015 7:56 am

My guess is we only hear of a few of these drug related arrests.
Seems it’s always the little guys, users, people who deal off their bicycles and such.
Cannot recall when the last time was that a major bust and break took place.
Is the Federal Drug Agency / FBI or other agencies involved?

Drugs will be the downfall of society….all about greed.

  30. RB on February 10th, 2015 7:55 am

Century is competing heavily with West Side for the Drug Capitol of Escambia County.

Hmmmm. Pond St. Trafficking. Intent to sell. Sounds like some business has already opened on Pond Street, without the help of any outside agency!
