Firefighters Revive Cats Following Travel Trailer Fire (With Gallery)
January 23, 2015
Two cats pulled apparently lifeless and unresponsive from a travel trailer fire Thursday are alive and well today thanks to firefighters from Escambia Fire Rescue.
Firefighters from the Ensley and Cantonment fire stations were called to the travel trailer fire in the 6000 block of Untreiner Avenue in Ensley just after noon. The fire was quickly extinguished, saving surrounding structures. Firefighters removed the cats from the fire and revived them using oxygen from specially designed masks donated by the Junior Humane Society and a little tender loving care.
At last report, the cats were doing well.

Bless you two firefighters for saving these kittens. Prayers to the family and Tober and Ewok. Special prayer for Ewok who needs a little more help healing. God is watching over all of you.
God bless you for saving these two precious little souls. If I were there I’d give you a great big hug.
Thank you to these wonderful firefighters. Apparently you are animals lovers as I. I think you deserve a medal for what you did. I love people who love animals unconditionally. You are brave and believe in the life of animals that mean something to their owners. God Bless you for all you do for us. Thanks! You’re heroes!!!!
Firefighters understand the value of ALL lives. These men deserve full recognition
Being related to one of those firefighters our family have see firsthand
The good hearts and kindness of these guys they are truly Heros
Thanks to all firefighters
THANK YOU SO MUCH FIREFIGHTERS FOR YOUR CARING HEARTS AND SAVING THESE TWO PRECIOUS CATS! Now we all need to say a Prayer for the two firemen and especially for Tober and Ewok. I truly wish that we had more firemen like these two. May God Bless Them Each And Every Day. All other firemen need to take a lesson from these two. Also, thank you so much William for reporting this story to the public. So many times firemen get a bad rap and it is so nice to hear a positive story for a change.
These firefighters are true men! Thank goodness they were there to help out these innocent cats…hope they are doing well.
Great job. Thanks
Thank you so much to those firefighters for rescuing out kitties!! The black one (Tober) she is doing great but the white one (Ewok) not so much…we’re taking him to the vet today because he’s not breathing so well! Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers! We owe everything to those men!!
Great job! I’m glad to hear that the kitties are doing well. Thanks to the firemen who saved these babies.
One of the fire fighters is Lt. Lyndon Halteman. He is a resident from right here in walnut hill! A friend to all and neighbor to a lucky few. A true hero.
Thanks for going above and beyond Lt.
Things can be replaced, but lives, regardless of two- or four-legged, cannot. These firefighters could have easily dismissed the pets as beyond help, but instead stepped up and did a GREAT JOB!!
And the Junior Humane Society deserves a huge public display of recognition (in the form of contributions) for donating this life-saving equipment so other agencies may also benefit.
The fire is unfortunate, but at least this family isn’t dealing with losing their home and their beloved kitties.
What a GREAT story and so uplifting. We are all God’s creatures and the least among us are the most vulnerable. Life is precious….
It’s refreshing to read some good news from time to time. Thanks for the great humanitarian work, firefighters!
