Noah Cleveland Mathis, Jr.

Mr. Noah Cleveland Mathis, Jr., age 86 of Century, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, in Century.

Mr. Mathis was a native of Century and spent his lifetime there where he owned and operated Mathis Development. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as Military Police and he earned the WWII Victory Medal and Army Occupational Medal. Mr. Mathis was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Cleveland and Ruby Emmons Mathis, Sr.; his brothers, Tom and Pete Mathis and his son, Larry Mathis.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Chiquita Moore Mathis of Century; sons, Brandon Mathis of Molino, Scott Moore of San Antonio, TX and Jimmie (Betty) Moore of Flomaton; daughters, Judy (Ricky) Dunsford of Century, June (Cal) Thompson of Flomaton, Betty (John) Jackson of Florida; brother, John (Laverne) Mathis of Atmore; sister, Ida Mae Welch of Pensacola; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Faith Bible Baptist Church in Century from 12 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Barrow and Rev. Ricky Dunsford officiating.

Interment will follow in Flomaton Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Robert Jackson, John Jackson, Rich Dunsford, Timothy Dunsford, Caleb Thompson, Aaron Thompson and Brandon Mathis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Amos Jackson, Joe Brown, Darrel Fore, Ronnie Sims, Billy Sims, Curtis Moye, Mike Roesch, Daryl Barrow.

Flomaton Funeral Home is directing.
