FWC Law Enforcement Report

January 3, 2015

The Florida FWC Division of Law Enforcement reported the following activity during the weekly period endingĀ  December 31 in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

Officer Hutchinson was patrolling the Escambia River Wildlife Management Area (WMA) when he checked a man and woman fishing. As he inquired about their success, he observed the woman go to the car and place something into her shirt. When he asked about the contents of the car, the subjects admitted that there was marijuana in the car. The woman handed over a bag of cannabis and was issued a notice to appear for possession of not more than 20 grams of cannabis.

Officer Livesay was working night hunting this week due to the high number of complaints from local landowners. From a concealed location, Officer Livesay observed an occupant of a vehicle shine a light into a nearby farm field. This area is known for a large deer population. Officer Livesay stopped the vehicle, identified two occupants and discovered they had a loaded rifle between them in the front seat. Officer Livesay seized the gun and light and issued both individuals a notice to appear citation for the violation.

SANTA ROSA COUNTY

Officer Hutchinson and Lieutenant Hahr were patrolling near the Escambia River WMA when they observed a car parked near a hunting club gate. When they pulled up to the car, they realized that a woman had hidden from them as they went by. They stopped to investigate and were told by the woman that she had just stopped to text her son. Drug paraphernalia was observed in the console, a glass pipe with a piece of crack cocaine ready for smoking was discovered on the floorboard. More crack and paraphernalia was found under the seat. The woman was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail.

This report represents some events the FWC handled over the past week;however, it does not include all actions taken by the Division of Law Enforcement. Information provided by FWC.

I have to agree with Hilton, those people received what they deserved.

No one should be smoking crack and pot smokers should confine such activity to their residences and property. Same with Alcohol consumers.

Thank you Wildlife Officers. I do feel safer knowing you guys are out and about. There are all sorts of crazies out there doing things they should not be doing in the areas where sportsmen are hunting or enjoying recreational activities with their families. If it wasn’t for our laws and the good folks that enforce these laws, we could not enjoy our public lakes, forests or recreation areas without being overrun by groups of people that have no decency or respect for anyone.

    @ Smokey

FWC officers are Florida sworn Law Enforcement Officers.
They come across many violators that have nothing to do with hunting or fishing.

The druggies in this article are examples of why there is such a big crime and criminal base in our area and nation.
These individuals who are the users have to either produce their own product or purchase it from someone who is a dealer. Either way it is illegal and the FWC has every right — Thank You — to detain and write a summons or take into custody if it is warranted.

The folks with the drugs were going to be driving the same roads, dirt or paved, as you and me and That Ain’t Good.

    Can’t fix stupid….

Thanks to the FWC and other LEO out there.

  5. What are they to do on January 3rd, 2015 7:50 am

When they are out on patrol and come up on other illegal activities what are they supposed to do turn their head as officers of the law they have to arrest for what ever the activity is. People hid out in the woods to smoke Crack and get high and drunk while fishing puts them in the line of FWC more so than a regular patrol officer

After reding these reports every week, I wonder are these wildlife officers or DEA agents?
