Ken Repine
February 27, 2014
Ken Repine, born November 24, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio was healed of his cancer at 4 p.m. on February 25, 2014, when he entered the Gates of Heaven.
He was met at the Gates by his father and mother, Frank and Ruby Repine and his sister, Joyce, who passed away as an infant and his father-in-law, Johnnie Kinsley.
Loved ones left to cherish Ken’s memories include his wife of 45 years, Wanda Kinsley Repine; his two children Michelle Repine Bond (Peter) and Mike Repine (Jennifer) along with the “magnificent seven”; Jackson and Jenna Bond, Brenn, Kira, Zane, Cole and Reid Repine. Ken had many roles in life; son, brother, husband and daddy but the role he cherished the most was that of Papa to his seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sisters; Pam Repine Elmore (Floyd) and Pat Repine Kieft (Bob) and by Wanda’s family: Harry Kinsley (Gayle), Donna Phillips (Bruce) and Dora Thomley (Wayne) and his mother-in-law, Virginia Kinsley.
Ken retired from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department in 2003 after 30 years. He truly enjoyed serving and protecting the people of this county. Ken’s retirement gave him many opportunities to cheer on his grandchildren at their many sporting events. He also greatly enjoyed bass fishing.
Ken was a member of First Baptist of Cottage Hill and Pensacola Hawg Hunters Bass Club and a former member of Panhandle Bass Club.
The family will receive friends at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 S. Hwy 29, Cantonment, on Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 2-4 p.m.
The family has asked that anyone wishing to pay respects attend the visitation. Ken will be cremated and there will be no funeral service. The family requests that instead of sympathy cards you bring a letter with a fond memory of Ken to place in his fishing basket. -
Dean Anthony Lindberg

Dean Anthony Lindberg, 54 of Bay Minette, passed away February 26, 2014, in Mobile.
He was born June 23, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, to Charles and Theresa Mills Lindberg. He was a retired Army Ranger and attended Grace Valley Baptist Church in Cantonmen. He was currently a police officer with the Atmore Police Department and had worked for the Kent Washington Police Department and the NAS Police Department. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Lindberg and his brother Daniel Lindberg.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Mary Ann Lindberg of Bay Minette, his mother Theresa Grzesiowski; two sons Terry (Kate) Lindberg and Adam Lindberg both of Kent, Washington; a daughter, HunterRose Lindberg of Bay Minette; one brother Thomas Lindberg of Milford, Michigan; three sisters Nancy Kearny of Romeo, MI; Elizabeth Gorka of Las Vegas, NV, and Mary Ann Gilben of Fayetteville, N.C. and a grandson Luke Lindberg.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Don Neese officiating. Burial will follow in Ray’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors.
Active pallbearers will be the Atmore Police Department.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, from 9:30 a.m. until an 11 a.m. service time from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Ann Marie Hanks

Mrs. Ann Marie Hanks, 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Mrs. Hanks was a native of Hazel Park, Michigan, and a resident of Bratta for the past 20 years. Mrs. Hanks attended the Bratt Baptist Church. Her husband, Horace Hanks, precedes her in death.
She is survived by her two daughters, Danielle (Byron) Mosley of Lottie, AL, and Michelle Hockett (Michael Long) of Gulfport, MS; four brothers, Donald Cates of Lake Stewart, FL, Mark Cates of Lake Stewart, FL, Edward Cates of Michigan and Tom Cates of Lake Stewart, FL; one sister, Christina Johnson of Lake Stewart, FL and five grandchildren, Jacob (Day) Harrison, Cian Mosley, Mollie Hockett, Abbie Hockett and Lauren Long.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 4 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Patterson officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 1, 2014,. from 2 p.m. until he 4 p.m. service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in Atmore.
Chloe Channell ‘Excited’ About Northview Blue Jacket Jamboree Appearance

America fell in love with Chloe Channell last fall on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” when she sang the Carrie Underwood cover song “All American Girl”. The song title almost describes the 12-year old middle school student, but perhaps make it “All American Country Girl”.
She was already a local star of sorts, performing with the Sawmill Band on a regular basis at the Farmer’s Opry in Chumuckla, since she was seven. But since the national TV appearances in front of millions, her fame has grown (how many local 12-year olds do you know with two million YouTube views on one video?).
She spent the Christmas holidays in Branson, Missouri, on stage with country star Billy Dean in the Kenny Rogers production “The Toy Shoppe”.
But now she’s “really excited” about March 8 and her appearance at the Blue Jacket Jamboree at Northview High School.
“I can’t wait because that will be the first show of the year with my band The Two-Dollar Pistols,” she said. “I’ve mostly just been singing at my church. But we are about to really get busy for the year beginning with the Northview show.”
Chloe will perform for an hour and a half during the Northview Blue Jacket Jamboree — a long show that she says will give her plenty of time for her favorites. She will perform her the cover of “All American Girl”, debut some original songs written for her by Billy Dean and a few favorites from The Band Perry and Sugarland.
“I can really relate to some of the Sugarland songs,” she said Wednesday night.
When asked what’s her favorite song right now, she replied “Shout to the Lord”.
“Do you know that one?” she asked.
“Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing. Power and majesty, praise to the King,” she began to sing. “That’s a cool song. I don’t know if I’ll get to do that one (at Northview) or not.”
The Northview High School FFA Alumni Blue Jacket Jamboree is Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the football stadium. All-day events include a craft show, car show, kids activities and games and food. Local artist Dusty Sanderson will perform from noon until 1:30 p.m., and Chloe Channel will perform from 2:30 until 4:00.

Kasie Braun, Abbie Johnson and Victoria Wright from Northview High, and Zac Sheldon from Tate are eligible to attend the State Leadership Conference (SLC) to be held in Orlando, March 21-24.
In addition to the district winners, Northview FBLA also won the “Outstanding FBLA District 1 Chapter of the Year, 2013-2014 Award” for being the most active and best all-around chapter. The chapter has been extremely busy this year with numerous activities including service projects such as the Manna Food Drive, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation fundraiser, and promoting Breast Cancer Awareness.
Victoria Wright earned recognition for Northview’s chapter by participating in the State Business Achievement Awards program (BAA) and earning certificates for achieving Membership Madness, Business Award. Wright, the NHS FBLA President, has served as the district president for the past two years.
Kasie Braun, NHS FBLA Vice President, has served as the District 1 vice president for the past two years. Wright and Braun received the Gloria Cooper Award and the Who’s Who in District 1 Award. The Gloria Cooper Award is given to outstanding FBLA members in District 1 who have helped promote FBLA and progress the goals of FBLA. Gloria Cooper was once a business teacher at Woodham High School who exemplified everything FBLA tries to help students achieve.
Wright and NHS FBLA Treasurer Anna Donald both received FBLA Scholarships of $250.

AKC Dog Show This Weekend At The Escambia Equestrian Center

The Pensacola Dog Fanciers Association will hold an American Kennel Club dog show at the Escambia Equestrian Center this Saturday and Sunday.
The two, seven-hour shows begin at 9 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday. They will both feature conformation— featuring many of the breeds seen on TV at the Westminster show— obedience— including the newest obedience trials— and rally.
This year the show also includes herding dog instinct tests, where dogs must show they have the instinct to herd, not harm sheep, and lure coursing runs Saturday after Best in Show as a precursor to a lure coursing CAT trial that will be held at a later date. There will be a short course set up in a paddock for pay-as-you-go interest runs (after 2:30 pm). These runs and the CAT trials are open to all breeds.

Food and vendors of specialized, often hard to find items will be available. The club offers educational material and will feature a novice exhibitor iof the dog show for those who are showing or thinking about showing for the first time at an AKC show.
Spectators are welcome. Tickets are $3 a person or $5 a car, whichever is less. Organizers said a dog show is an excellent opportunity to learn about the different breeds and to talk to their owners. The judging schedule will be on the club website at http://www.pensacoladogs.org/ when it becomes available.
Frederick A. Lambert

Frederick A. Lambert, MSgt, USAF (Retired), born October 14, 1938, in Oneonta, New York, passed away in a peaceful setting holding his wife’s hand and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Frederick is a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church of Pensacola. He is survived by his wife of 52 years. Marian Lambert, his son Rick Lambert of Pensacola, and daughter DeAndre’ Brown of Delhi, New York. Frederick has nine siblings and is survived by his sisters Lillian SaSanno of Moorehead City, NC; Marie Giambalvo of Binghamton, NY; Dorothy Shaw of Strawberry, AR; Rosanne Garrison of Davenport, NY; and Priscilla Stubbins of Tucson, AZ.
Frederick was a proud member of the United States Air Force. He started his military career in 1956 as a jet engine mechanic in the United States Navy. After three tours aboard aircraft carriers in Vietnam, he moved to the US Air Force while remaining in the same career field. He concluded his 21 year career serving as First Sergeant of the 5th Munitions Maintenance Squadron in Minot North Dakota and retired in 1977.
Frederick was a loving grandfather to his granddaughters Leighann, Lindsey, Dana, and Kaéla and grandsons Alex and Jeffrey. He is also a great-grandfather to Jeannette, Keeria, and Devon. Frederick never failed to help someone in need and was always willing to help, never asking for anything in return. You were blessed to have him as a friend.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 28, 2014, at Hillcrest Baptist Church from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services immediately following. Interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery.

Samuel Joseph “Joe” Irwin

Former Cantonment resident Samuel Joseph “Joe” Irwin, 80, died February 25,2014, at his home in Sparta, TN.
Joe was born February 8, 1934, in Atmore to the late John Calvin and Lillie (Hardy) Irwin. He graduated from J.M. Tate High School in 1952. He married Mary Joyce Smith on
August 30, 1952, in Cottage Hill. He retired from St. Regis/Champion Paper Mill in 1997. Mr. Irwin was active in the community including membership of the First Baptist Church of Cantonment, a former chief of the volunteer fire department, a current member of Masonic Lodge #322, and the York Rite of Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; daughter, Diane Dunaway of Milton, FL; daughter, Joanne Irwin of Algood, TN; sister, Eunice Trescott of Virginia Beach; brother Leroy Irwin of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Lesley & Stevyn of TN, and Angela, Amy and Amanda of Florida; great-grandsons Ethan, Trace, Trent and Parker.
Mr. Irwin was also preceded in death by his brother, Dennis.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment. Burial will take place at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Pylypow

Elizabeth Pylypow, 94, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in her Molino home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Pylypow was a native of Richmond, VA, and had lived in Molino for 42 years. She attended Highland Baptist Church and retired at the age of 80 as a cafeteria worker from Molino Elementary School.
Mrs. Pylypow was preceded in death by two husbands, Glen Bundy and John Pylypow, her daughter Jean Hart, and an infant daughter Anne Bundy. Survivors include her daughter, Susan Vann; four grandchildren, John (Janelle) Vann, Glen (Annette) King, Lisa (Bob) Fulton, and Joey King; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Thursday at Faith Chapel North at 1000 S. Hwy 29 in Cantonment. Funeral services and burial will be held on Friday at 11 a.m.at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.
Pallbearers will be John Vann, Glen King, Joey King, Wesley King, Brittany King, and Holly Colburn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Fulton and Mickey Colburn.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Highland Baptist Church at 6240 Highway 95A, Molino, FL 32577.
Mrs. Pylypow’s legacy of unconditional love, faith, and service will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have shared some part of her journey.

Johnnie Lee Philyaw

Johnnie Lee Philyaw, 76 of Repton, AL, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in Brewton. He was a logger, born in Atmore on January 21, 1938, to the late John Wesley and Martha Lister Philyaw.
His is preceded in death by his two wives, Dorothy Mae Philyaw and Emma Philyaw. one brother, Orlion Lee Philyaw, and one sister, Mary Sue Harris.
Survivors are three sons, William (Every) Philyaw of Century, J.W. Philyaw, and James Philyaw both of Repton; grandchildren, Jason Philyaw, Angel Philyaw, Larry Philyaw, Cheyenne Philyaw, Dalton Philyaw, J.W. Philyaw,Jr. Dorothy Philyaw and Rosa Philyaw.
Services will be Friday, February 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the New Haven Holiness Church in Lenox, AL, with Pastor Randy Steadman officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore.
Active Pallbearers are Vernon Lambeth, John Lenio, David Lenio, J.W. Philyaw,Jr Jason Philyaw and Billy Bartlett.
Family will receive friends Thursday, February 27, 2014, at New Haven Holiness Church from 5 p.m. until service time on Friday at 11 a.m.
