Helen Kowalski Beadle

December 6, 2014

Helen Kowalski Beadle died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 4, 2014.

She was born to Frank and Sophie (Bethka) Kowalski in Oswego, NY on March 9, 1922. Two years after finishing high school, she took the train to Montgomery, AL, to marry her true love, Avery Howard Beadle, who was serving there in the Army Air Corps. They were wed in June, 1942. After the war, they moved to Cantonment where Avery worked for the St. Regis Paper Company.

Helen was a devout Catholic and a devoted wife and mother of two children. She was an excellent homemaker, cook, and seamstress. When her children were older, she became certified as a teacher’s aide and worked for several years at Woodham High School and Jim Allen Elementary. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was hard to beat at Scrabble. In later years, she and Avery made several trips to Europe and were active in square and round dancing.

Helen is survived by her husband of 72 years, Avery H. Beadle; two children, Sylvia Beadle Zurko of Colorado, and Gary (Danise) Beadle of Cantonment; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

After cremation she will be interred at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date. Faith Chapel North is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Catholic Charities, Habitat for Humanity, or Manna Food Bank.

Friends are invited to visit the family at 100 Morris Avenue in Cantonment, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Friday, December 12.
