Taylor Prefiles For Escambia School Superintendent
November 11, 2014
Monday, a Cantonment man became the first person to pre-file for the Escambia County Superintendent of Schools seat in the 2016 election.
Jim Taylor of Carmody Hill Road announced his candidacy saying, ” I think now is the time we start placing children first in education; more must be done than what is currently being done.” He is running as a Republican.
Taylor ran unsuccessfully for the Escambia County Commission District 5 seat in 2012, receiving about 10.5 percent of the vote.

AA Dixon did not BECOME a mess as best I could see.
It was always a lost cause, it seems to me.
Jim Taylor was my science teacher 20+ years ago and he’s a great guy. Patient, he listened and he was very approachable. He was a good teacher. So I am biased. Also, Malcolm Thomas is just awful, imo. Especially his approach while dealing with charter schools and the mess he made of the AA Dixon situation.
First he wants to be County Commissioner now Superintendent of Schools? Interesting, I don’t know what Mr. Taylor plans to do but it’s going to be hard to do a better job than Mr. Thomas.
