November 14, 2014

Two people were left without a home after a late night fire in Cantonment.

The fire was reported about 11:35 p.m. Thursday in the 1400 block Kathleen Avenue near Adobe Trail.  Both occupants were able to escape the 3,100 square foot home without injuries.

The home was fully involved in fire when the first firefighters arrived on scene. The fire was under control by 12:37 a.m.

The fire reportedly started with a chimney, but the exact cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office.

This is very tragic that one get displaced from their home. They have a really nice next door neighbor that was out today in regards to all the speed bumps that the Emergency Vehicles had to go over . The response time was greatly reduced because of them. And the outcome could have been better if their frequency was fewer and they were easier to cross. She is asking that we contact our Commissioner Steven Barry District 5 @ 850-595-4950 and request something done about these. This is not the first time emergency vehicles had to come down this area and response time was reduced. I certainly will be contacting him personally.
