    In response to Mr Reality,

What would you have the deputy do? Chase him? That would be a violation of ECSO policy. He had no choice but to watch the bad guy drive away. Hard to believe, ain’t it?

I must have had too much to drink. I thought I hit a road sign or something small but not a cop car. I’m lucky I made it home with that much damage.

    Any note on his condition?

Help me understand this better. It sounds like the law enforcement vehicle’s lights would have appeared to be on the wrong side or the road to the other driver, and in their eyes. This would have confused me, and I probably would have tried to go to the right of the headlights, and ended up in the ditch.
