Century Man Charged With Sawed Off Shotgun Assault

November 12, 2014

A Century man has been charged with threatening another man with a sawed-off shotgun.

Orlando Dantaus Dixon, 27, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without the intent to kill and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.  He remained in the Escambia County Jail Wednesday morning with bond set at $40,000.

A resident of the 500 block of Hecker Road in Century reported that Dixon and two females drove by his home and yelled something. When the victim told Dixon he needed to keep going, Dixon stated “I’ll be back,” the victim told deputis. A short time later, the victim was outside his residence when Dixon returned with an older model brown and rusted sawed-off shotgun and pointed it at him and yelled obscenities, according to an arrest report.

Deputies located the vehicle and the females at the Century Quick Stop on North Century Boulevard. The females told deputies about the verbal altercation and said that Dixon drove to the Carver Community Center on Jefferson Avenue and retrieved the sawed-off shotgun from somewhere out of sight behind the building. The females affirmed that Dixon returned to Hecker Road and pointed the shotgun at the victim.

Dixon, according to his arrest report, is a convicted felon.

So ignorant. It don’t have to be a real gun. You can’t go around doing these kind of things and not expect to get killed or put in jail. Here is you’re sign!

@lele. What? Your slaughter of the English language and your way of thinking is exactly what is wrong with society today. I bet you believe that snitching is bad too huh?

You are absolutely correct. It is a free world. Unfortunately in our free world it not acceptable(nor legal) to go around pointing guns at people just because they looked at you funny or said mean things to you.It is also legal to carry a gun (with a carry conceal permit)but not a sawed off shot gun. Felons also can not be in possession of or carry a gun of any type.Fake or not this gentlemen is lucky that he didn’t pull the gun on a ccw permit holder with a real gun because he might not be alive to be charged with being stupid.

Moronic behavior from yet another guy I l attended school with. I hate the victim had to encounter such violent and foolish behavior. I’m glad that the victim wasn’t harmed, but Orlando should be ashamed and grow up and be a man.

    @ lele
It doesn’t matter if it was a pellet gun, the victim didn’t know that. If someone points a gun at you, you should always assume that it is real, loaded, and that the person intends to shoot you. I feel sad when I read your comment. Not only does the poor spelling make my head hurt, it also shows your ignorance about life. Just because the gun wasn’t real and as you put it “this is a free country and he can ride where ever he wants” doesn’t mean he can pull a gun to intimidate anyone and people can’t ride around yelling at people and threatening them. If you think you can do a better job than the brave men and women who put on the law enforcement uniform everyday and protect the citizens from wanna be thugs then please, go to school and get the education (that will also help with your atrocious spelling) and go be a police officer. Until then, please remember that sometimes it’s best to remain silent than to speak and be proven foolish.

If the shotgun was indeed a “short barreled shotgun” (barrel under 18″long) I wonder why he was not charged with that offense as well?

Maybe that’s why the weapon was at the community center; communal and all that.

That’s a really good idea. Instead of all the convicted felons having to go out and steal their own shotguns, they just have one that can be shared.
