Shocked to hear this sad news. I heard someone on WKRG news that the building was originally a radio station. I just remember it as the Sweet Shop and then Gerlach’s. So sorry for the new owners of the new restaurant that just opened and sad that Atmore has lost a historical building.

As a 13 year old boy, I sold black berries to the Sweet Shop which was located in this building.

So glad no one was hurt….Many memories for a lot of people in that old building..I know the Parish grill group are just heart broken…they put so much work into getting the old building ready. Please know my heart is with you..Michele and I really made a lot of friends there and was such an important time in our lives.

Such a shame. People losing everything and a part of the Atmore history gone in just a few hours. I had a lot of meals in this building over the years, a lot of memories in this place. Our hearts and prays go out to these people. and to the other shop owners. May the Lord be with them and guide them through this. Thank all our first responders for the great job that they do to protect us and our property. They put their lives on the line every day. May God bless them also. Times like this leaves a hole in one’s heart.
