Man Gets Life Without Parole For Child Abuse
October 2, 2014
An Escambia County man has been sentenced to life in prison for the sexual battery of a child.
Vance Auris McMillan, 31, was found guilty Wednesday of sexual battery on a child less than 12 years of age following a jury trial in Santa Rosa County. Circuit Judge John F. Simon immediately sentenced McMillan to life in prison without parole.
In May 2013, McMillan sexually molested the eight-year old girl at a home in Milton. The child disclosed the abuse to her mother who immediately reported it to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

It shouldn’t be surprising to see that someone who did something horrific, will be locked away and not able to do it again. How sad is it, that we’re all shocked to see him put away for life.
TO WOW..FYI .yes there was a life sentence in Esc Co over 2 yrs ago….man raped a toddler….got life….was there for the sentencing.
This crime carries a mandatory sentence of life with no chance of release. The judge had no other choice. This is frequently the situation. It is the law, and the judge has to abide by the law. (This is not to suggest that the judge was unhappy with the sentence.)
It is about time these child molesters get life w/out parole.
I guess our justice system is coming around. Kudos!
Way to go Santa Rosa County! I can’t recall any “Life” sentences in Escambia courts for such an awful crime.
So glad a judge did something right!! The person (can’t be called a man) got what he deserved. I think he should get more!!!!!!
Good call Judge. These guys will repeat and repeat and it is about time they were locked away forever.
Thank you Judge Simon!! We need more like you!
