Dorothy Janet Turner Whitaker

Dorothy Janet Turner Whitaker, 80 of Atmore, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2014, in Pensacola. She was a homemaker, born in Luverne, AL, on August 30, 1934, to the late Alvin C. and Mary Lou Stallings Turner. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Atmore.

She is preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Leverette, Bobby A. Turner, and Ann Lawrence.

Survivors include two sons, Brent Whitaker, III of Biloxi, MS, Ken (Melanie) Whitaker of Acworth, GA; one daughter, Greer Hull of Decatur, AL; four grandchildren, Whitney Brown, Leslie Whitaker Keith, Morgan Hull and Brian Whitaker; one great-grandchild, Brayden Hood; and father and grandfather of her children, H.B. Whitaker Jr. of Atmore.

Services were held Saturday, October 18, 2014, from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Leverette and Rev. Debora Bishop officiating.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
