Can you just say your prayers? he is gone and we can’t do anything about it. Yes it was his fault for being out in the road but it already happened. I knew this kid he went to my school and I knew he was a great and funny kid so just please stop bickering about why he was up and just say your prayers.

Kelly they do have the cheap noise makers when a door is opened but you can turn it off or even just pry it off the door. If you think your child is sleeping safely in their beds what more can you do? If they want to get out they will.

Prayers for BOTH families. I can’t imagine the pain they are both going through. One the loss of a child and the other to mistakenly kill someone on the road. Terrible.

I read all of the comments and still feel that it is the parent’s responsibility. There are alarms, which not only notify you if someone breaks into the house, but also if someone LEAVES the house. There are ones that aren’t expensive, and they don’t have to be monitored to alert you. This is part of keeping your kids safe.

Thank you Sabrina. My prayers are for the boy’s family and the driver. Kids will be kids. Didn’t you ever roam around at night during a sleep-over when you were about that age?

why exactly was a 12 year old in walking in the road at 4 in the morning anyway? thats sad, yeah, but still the kid should not have been in bed by this time .

    Children do childish things.
    Sometimes they pay the price.
I’m amazed I’m still alive after all the things I did while even younger.
” Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
They won’t find comfort here, but I hope friends have tried.

    David for comforting

Very sad when the police knock on the door of the 12 yo to tell them that she had died. This happened to 3 sets of parents in 1976. Friends of my brother. All the parents thought the kids were in bed. I hope those of you publicly choosing not to pray for this girl’s parents don’t have children. You will reap what you sow. This is not compassion. Prayers for the parents and the driver.

It is so sad how people start posting blame and harsh comments. Let’s just all say a prayer for the family and all involved! It is a tragic event and no need for rude comments. I’m sure there are parents who are blaming themselves and do not need other people doing it. I pray for the family and everyone involved. May the boy rest in peace!

First, my prayers are with all involved. Second, I too question why a 12 year old was out this time of the morning. Escambia county does have a curfew for under age children. I believe the curfew would be 10pm. It is a shame this happens, but, this is why they are called accidents. Same thing happens last week and the deputy gets bashed about it, this time the parents of the child. Have you never heard of a child sneaking out? Or being at a friends and deciding to go home? Wow,people always having to place the blame before knowing the story.

Sue that is a very hateful comment she was 12 YEARS OLD and yes it says 4:40am im pretty sure her family were sleeping at that hour just like the rest of us maybe the girl just woke up and left or maybe she did sneak out do you have children if so… do you set your alarm for every thirty minutes to run and make sure your children are still in the bed?highly doubt it! Wheres your compassion. So tragic Praying for the families of all involved so young and so sad

  15. Anna on October 12th, 2014 9:10 am

How fast to judge…at 12 I woke to run. some 12 yo’s deliver papers..point is have some compassion! The parents have to be devastated. How sad it is that as a community, the first response is condemnation.

  16. smokey on October 12th, 2014 8:54 am

If a 12 yo sneaks out , how are parents responsible? Its not an infant or toddler. A 12 yo is capable of making bad decisions. Please tell how you would prevent this, ye of so much wisdom.

  17. katie on October 12th, 2014 8:49 am

You cannot always blame parents for their children’s actions. Haven’t you ever snuck out of your house while your Parents Were Sleeping? Parents cannot stay up 24/7. If your child has been raised correctly then you have done your job. You cannot blame the parent for what they do. I am not saying this pertains to every case but do not judge unless you know the family. No I do not know this family, I am just tried of reading about how most want to judge and charge the parents. My prayers go out to all involved.

  18. Wow on October 12th, 2014 8:23 am

One more thought, before anyone starts to crucify the parent(s). Perhaps the child was SUPPOSED to be home, perhaps he was spending the night with friends, perhaps – just perhaps it was a very unfortunate ACCIDENT. Not neglect, not stupidity, just a terrible terrible accident (that could have been avoided none the less). That’s why we should “teach our children, and when they are away from us – they will not depart from it…”. Just saying…. much prayers to all.

  19. Wow on October 12th, 2014 8:12 am

Prayers for the family AND the driver. This is something no one should EVER have to endure… no matter what the circumstances. A 12 yo out at 4:40 AM…?????? Wow, just wow… my heat is sad.
