Escambia Man Shot While Out For Morning Jog

A Friday morning shooting in Escambia County is under investigation.
The shooting occurred about 6:00 near the intersection of Avery and North R Streets. The victim told deputies that he was going for his usual morning jog when he was approached by a man on a bicycle. According to the victim, the suspect asked “Where’s the box?”and then followed the victim approximately one block. He then pulled a small caliber weapon and shot the victim in the cheek before fleeing the area.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The suspect was described as a black male wearing a white t-shirt and black and gray army-type fatigues. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

I agree with y’all; open carry would be so nice.
@me and 429SCJ: I agree and I do carry, but it’s awful hard to jog with a concealed carry, and you can’t open carry here.
I agree shoot back!! This is getting ridiculous! We all need to start carrying guns to protect ourselves against these “thugs” around here. I want to read about thugs getting shot or at least getting what they deserve. I am tired of reading about innocent people being wronged.
