The Escambia County Supervisor of Elections Office will begin counting absentee ballots today for the August 26 primary election. As of the weekend, 7,300 absentee ballots had been submitted in Escambia County; that’s about 22 percent returned of those issued.

All absenteeĀ  ballots must be received in the Supervisor of Elections Office no later than 7 p.m. on August 26.

Absentee ballots are counted FIRST by almost every county in Florida, period. This rumor about them not being counted unless the race is close is a joke and always has been.

    I am hopefully incorrect here….

Was there a move at one time to count but not include the Absentee Votes unless there was a very close election.?

From the dark recesses of memory that was either a proposal or an actual happening because of the volume of Absentees.

Because many of our Absentee Ballots are returned by our American Heroes serving in the US Military I think EVERY vote should be included whether tight or a landslide.

Thank You to ALL Who Serve in whatever capacity.
Without you we may not be voting at all.

I look forward to being wrong here…sometimes it’s good to be wrong.
