I AGREE WITH BOB C who stated:
Have to agree with some of the above comments and wonder how many of these “Outstanding Warrants” are for something like Failure to Appear on a very minor offense.
Seems kind of strange this many are picked up when the County Jail and the holding facility are sending inmates to other counties to be housed because of the explosion at this county’s facility.

Our jail is dangerously overcrowded now. We have 3 inmates being housed in 2 man cells with the 3rd one sleeping on the floor on a mat. It is crazy and very unsafe for both officers and inmates.

I agree with I can tell you. I am grateful for what they did in getting those people off the streets.

While some of these caught in “Operation Summer Heat” how many will end up costing taxpayers even more money?

Chances are that most of these 69 folks arrested will be – or already are – back out on the street after posting a minimal bond or being released by a Judge.

A revolving door that makes a fair assessment of society.

In actuality, there were likely more people arrested in the same period of time “outside” of this named operation.
Most outstanding warrant arrests happen by chance when ta person gets pulled over or does something else stupid that gets the LEO’s involved.
Then it is found there is a warrant on them and bingo, they get arrested.

without naming names…it appears that a certain poster just crawled out from under a rock…in a field…in the middle of nowhere…

Thanks and praise, for the efforts of ECSO and the others in the task force. Keep it up!

    @wyatte –
How about enforcing the law every day and there would be no need for an “operation”.

Deputies are out there making arrests and serving warrants every day. But some of the more elusive ones need special effort and resources, so these “operations” are done to grab the ones that are slipping through the cracks.

@ I can tell you: I’m with you on your comment—there are so many on here that do not know what “being positive” is. It’s like the old question– is the glass half full or half empty. Looking at the 69 who are off the streets and the question become not if the glass is ****** but we have a glass with something in it. Good job LEO’s. Please be safe.

There’s only so much room in our jail… You’ve got to get the worst ones first..

“Thousands of outstanding warrants” in Escambia County………hmmmmm, a vast majority of those may not still be in the area. Of those that ARE, they may be somewhat more elusive or maybe the ones they got are just more severe than some others. Maybe they’re just “low-hanging fruit” that’s made itself easy to grab. For whatever reason it is, there are 69 less out there now and for that, I’m quite happy. Great job LEO’s on getting the “attention” of these 69 less-than-ideal citizens of our area!! Let’s see 169 next time!

I can tell you how many warrants are active in this county… 69 less than there would have been if the SO hadn’t done this. By your logic I guess there is no point in trying unless you can serve all 20,000 warrants in one day? There will always be a long list of warrants, but crime tend to be committed by the same group of people. Taking 69 dirtbags off the street is going to be a lot less crimes that WONT be committed now. It’s a start. Be positive.

69… Not a bad number until one considers the thousands of outstanding warrants in Escambia County. Have the sheriff tell the people how many unserved warrants he has on the books before he spouts off about how good he’s doing.
