Northview Preseason Game Against Escambia Academy Canceled; Garnet And Gold Game Planned
August 6, 2014
Northview High School’s preseason kickoff game August 22 against the Escambia Academy Cougars has been canceled.
The Florida High School Athletic Association would not approve the game because Escambia Academy is a not a member of an organization that is part of the National Federation of State High School Associations, according to Northview Principal Gayle Weaver.
Weaver said the school is finalizing plans for a Garnet and Gold game with just the Chiefs at 7 p.m. on August 22.
The Northview Chiefs will open the regular season on the road at Bozeman at 7 p.m. on August 29.
Escambia Academy is private school located in Canoe, Ala. The Cougars are members of the Alabama Independent School Association, which is not a NFHS member association. The Cougars will open their regular season at home against Autauga Academy of Prattville, Ala., on August 29.

We all would like to see Northview and Flomaton play
Yes, in K4-12th grade.
>>>they had 241 kids last year
In grades K-12?
i just looked up EA enrollment for last year they had 241 kids last year they are a 2a in AISA i thank
You may be right, but I wouldn’t think location would make any difference. If it would, why not move the game to EA? How far-4 miles? I feel someone wanted out of this game.
>>Funny they won’t allow this game but the last I saw they were on Jays regular season schedule.
Jay plays at Escambia Academy, which I suppose would fall under the AISA rules, not FHSAA. Maybe that’s the difference.
Funny they won’t allow this game but the last I saw they were on Jays regular season schedule.
>>Whats the enrollment at escambia academy? Whats the enrollment at northview?
Escambia Academy has about 100 students in the high school grades. Northview is around 525-550 each year.
Whats the enrollment at escambia academy? Whats the enrollment at northview? Thats a problem. Its like northview playing south alabama.
AISA schools have played Florida public schools for years in regular season games. Crenshaw Christian has played Arnold High in football and several AISA schools near the Al/Fl line have played Pensacola schools in basketball and baseball. Anybody know the problem now?
Try to schedule Flomaton NHS.
