Child Accidentally Locked In Vehicle In Midday Heat

August 23, 2014

A child was accidentally locked in a car during the midday heat Friday, but what could have been a tragic story has a happy ending.

A mom reportedly bumped a door closed and locked the child inside the vehicle in the parking lot of the Food Giant on North Century Boulevard.  But the vehicle and the air conditioner were still running, and first responders were moments away.

Escambia County EMS, Escambia Fire-Rescue and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the store.  Shortly after the ambulance arrived on scene, an Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy was able open the locked vehicle.

The child suffered no injuries and was not in distress.

Always keep a spare vehicle door key in your wallet or purse. They are real cheap.

On my 04 f150 you cannot lock the doors withe the motor running.THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT STAY DOWN.All cars should be made with this feature. However I know older cars wont have it.
