Cantonment Man Sentenced To Prison In Child Porn Case
June 18, 2014
A Cantonment man was sentenced to prison Tuesday on child pornography charges for downloading sexually explicit pictures and movies of children from the internet onto his home computer.
Jason Scott Bergen, 42, was originally charged with a total of 25 counts of possession of obscene material/child pornography in September 2013. Fifteen of those child pornography charges were dropped when Bergen entered a no contest plea to the remaining 10 charges. He was sentenced by Judge Michael Jones to five years in state prison to be followed by 10 years probation.
Agents with the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force initiated a search warrant at Bergen’s residence at 806 Chesapeake Trail in late September 20113 after he was identified via the internet as downloading child pornography.
Task force members from the Office of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Walton County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Pensacola Police Department with the investigation.

Mary E., I agree with you 100%. Death is the only cure for these perverts, No surgery, counseling or medication will fix these animals, death is the only answer.
Furthermore, what kind of ego manicle freak does it take to brag to an acquaintance that you took sexual pictures of you & a child?!!
Why only 5 yrs. when the other two guys convicted got “hundreds of years”, & 34 yrs?!! Why not the same for ALL of them, DEATH, with NO appeals, NO probation!! Do it & get it over with, with no sympathy, or compassion, the same as they have their VICTIMS!! Poor, precious BABIES!!!!
Just think if they would have found some marijuana with all his perverted material he would have gotten a lot more time.
This is outrageous, 5 years in prison followed by 10 years probation is a slap in the face to the victims and thier familes. This should be a death penalty case, because death is the only cure for these deviants who prey on children.
This just really burns me up. I will not support anyone who helped get this pervert a light sentence. When will our justice system give justice to the victims and stop giving light sentences to people who harm our children.
I’ve often wondered if the people who upload these pictures and videos ever get prosecuted. And what sites host this perverted and sick material? Oh yeah, maybe the NSA can be recruited.
Downloading and viewing these images should carry a stiffer penalty. He should have received 5 years for every image.
Matt, a lot of us have the same thought!!
I don’t understand it.
Maybe its a sickness like drug addiction. Good he is off the streets, he might of acted instead of looking next.
Hope he has a very rough time and does every day of that 5 year sentence.
