A flood cleanup worker was killed Monday afternoon when a car slammed into him and a parked car in Escambia County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 51-year old William B. Akins of Milton was northbound on Tippin Avenue at an excessive rate of speed when he ran off the roadway, struck a utility pole, hit a building housing a storage facility, rear-ended a parked Toyota and struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian, identified as 22-year old Dez Michael San Agustin of Jacksonville, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation. Troopers said charges are pending in the incident.

It’s possible the driver experienced some sort of health incident, like a seizure. There was an overturned truck at Hanks furniture on Davis Highway early monday morning. Anyone know what happened there?

The same type of inattentive driving killed a Florida State Trooper, a wrecker driver and a bystander, at the scene of a previous crash on I-75, Saturday, just south of Ocala. Three dead…what was the driver thinking…or not?
