Photos: Our Baby Mockingbirds

May 20, 2014

A few weeks ago, we posted photos of three mockingbird eggs nestled deep within the fronds of a sago palm at our NorthEscambia.com office.  Two of three eggs hatched, and we’re happy to report that the two young birds have now left the nest. NorthEscambia.com photos, click to enlarge.

We have a nesting “mamma” here on S. Blue angel. She sings to us each spring. All day and sometimes into the night.

Mama Bird is the friendliest mockingbird I’ve ever seen in my life. She will sit on a power line right about your head and sing, even if you approach the nest. She doesn’t do snakes, cats and skunks, but she’s never been bothered by people. You’d think she’s a city bird out here in the country. :)

You are lucky you didn’t get attacked while shooting the pictures. I have a nest right next to my garage and mama bird lets me know if I get too close. Ow.
