Two people were arrested shortly after kicking a door at a Century home Monday afternoon.

At about 2:30 p.m., the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary in progress in the 7000 block of Hadley Lane. According to the victim, two black males kicked in a back door and then fled through the woods when they were startled by a resident inside.

After getting a description of the two suspects, deputies spotted on suspect and then quickly found another behind a residence on Pond Street. Both were positively identified by the victim.

Lamikal Devonte Kyles, 20, and Devante Aaron Knight, 22, were both charged with attempted burglary and criminal mischief. Bond was set at $6,000 each.

    Teresa,
“According to the victim”, “positively identified by” and “charged with” are okay as given since they report the claim not a judgment as to its veracity.

The only place you might reasonably want an “allegedly” added would be in the first sentence. “shortly after kicking a door” changed to “shortly after allegedly kicking a door”.
Courts would have to rule the door was actually kicked and that the victim was not lying as you imply.

Everything happens for a reason, as you say.

    David for allegedly better people

Innocent until proven guilty, people!!! Why isn’t the word “allegedly” not used anywhere in this article? I’ve known Lamikal Kyles since he was a baby and am in his every day life. And if it had’ve been one of the many doors kicked in that would’ve resulted in being shot and killed, Lamikal Kyles would very much be alive and well!!! Keep your head up, Mike!!! It’s in God’s hands!!! Everything happens for a reason and God has a reason for this trial and tribulation. I got your back and you have my prayers!!! And don’t worry, the truth will come out!!!

Maybe Mike Mike didn’t do it, the story just says he was arrested and charged.
At a minimum the other individual would not be someone to hang with.

All I can say is they were lucky. There are many doors in this area that if you kick one in will result in being shot and killed.

Dang lamikal you have so much more to offer to the world and yourself . Don’t throw your life away like others in the area . Let this be a wake up call and make your moma proud do something more with your life . Your a good kid that has done wrong if this story is right but you don’t have to continue this path as so many around the neighborhood has. Keep your head up and move forward .

Glad no one was hurt. You dont need a permit for this type of crime, just be prepared.
