Jury Recommends Death For Joshua Douglas

April 16, 2014

An Escambia County jury voted unanimously Tuesday to recommend the death sentence for 32-year old Joshua Wayne Douglas.

Douglas was convicted last week of the brutal rape and murder of a woman whose body was found in wooded area off Nine Mile Road.  The body of 25-year old Jamie Broxson was found near a Gulf Power substation not far from Broxson’s home in November 2010.  Douglas was tied to the murder by DNA evidence.

One additional hearing will be held May 23 for the purpose of presenting any further evidence for the court to consider before imposing sentence.

Should have got the death penalty instead of life. Doesn’t deserve to be on this earth.

No appeals, no mercy, no time on death row, his time on this earth is up, and let’s all hope it’s a really dry heat where he is headed.

I just want to tell the jury that I am proud of ya’ll for doing the right thing and having the guts to give this devil what he deserves. Lets just hope he goes through his appeals process quickly so he can be dealt with in a timely manner, better yet I pray he waives his appeals and takes his punishment like a man.
You jury members hold your head high and feel no remorse or regret for your decision, you did a fantastic job, one that needed to be done excatly with the results you people dished out. Thank you.
I don’t know this guy or the victims nor any of the jurors, my comments are mine alone and I’ll say it all again if necessary. I have no compassion or empathy for people like this man.
