Escambia Man Sentenced To Life For 2012 Murder
April 22, 2014
An Escambia County man was sentenced to life in prison for an Escambia County murder.
Circuit Judge Terry Terrell sentenced 19-year old Bennie Louis Robbins III to life in state prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years.
Robbins was convicted of first degree felony murder, grand theft auto and possession of controlled substance by an Escambia County jury in January of this year.
On July 27, 2012, 19-year old Matthew Cox was shot and killed by Robbins in the Montclair community. Just prior to midnight, Robbins approached Cox outside of his home, displayed a firearm and demanded money. After Cox gave his money to Robbins, Cox fled. Robbins chased after Cox and fired the fatal shots.
DNA found at the scene identified Robbins as a suspect. Additionally, during a traffic stop three weeks later the murder weapon was found in the vehicle Robbins was driving.

Why not pray for this young man instead of sentencing this child further into death!! If this was your child would you want everyone saying this?? Prayers go out to both families.. Its never easy to lose a child to anything, that’s why we must constantly pray for our youth as well as ourselves.. I pray for all of you who wishes DEATH upon anyone in any shape or form..
FREE BENNIE????????????WHY????????? HE KILLED SOMEONES CHILD. THATS THE DUMMIEST THING I READ ALL WEEK
Free Bennie he is a good kid and did not deserve to go down for another person ignorance
“Why no death penalty?” you ask. . . because Florida’s judges are WIMPS.
19 years old and you threw your life away, so you have at least 25 years to contemplate yor senseless act, regret just walked through the door loser…good riddance.
I am not surprised that there is no death penalty, but I am stunned that this sentence has even a remote possibility of parole.
He should have got death. Why do the tax payers have to keep a roof over his head and food in his mouth for the rest of his life. If more of these people get death, we will have less of them out there killing.
Dave….in my opinion I would rather see the criminal suffer for as long as possible
25 years is a LONG time for a 19 year old, then he will never make parole. With the death peanalty he would go to solitary, this way bubba can teach him to obey THEIR laws…..
I wonder why no death penalty? First degree felony murder + other crimes. What do you have to do to get the death penalty in Florida?
