Hundreds Of EREC Customers Without Power Early Saturday
March 15, 2014
Hundreds of Escambia River Electric Cooperative customers were without power for a while early Saturday in a planned outage.
Power was cut about midnight for customers served by the company’s Bratt substation — from Bratt, to Byrneville and parts of McDavid to Highway 29 just outside Century. The outage was necessary for the company to upgrade high voltage lines that service the power substation.

I am “VERY HAPPY” with the professional manner of how this project was done. “GREAT WORK EVERYONE”!
We got our phone call of the set outage of the power. Thank you EREC for letting us all know.
We were notified via an automated phone call. Was happy that it was only out 45 min compared to the two hours the message said it would be. The inconvenience was well worth it if we can all look forward to better power service minus the on/off for two hours we get every once in a while when a little bad weather rolls in. Power shortages really does a number on the appliances, electronics and street light bulbs and nothing is covered by EREC, you have to file a claim with your home owners, if you can afford that. Sure hoping the problems will be resolved now!
We never lost power but the cable, phone and internet service with Brighthouse was out and it was midnight.
EREC did a mass callout to every member in that area that we had a correct phone number for. If you did not receive a phone call, please call EREC (1-800-238-3848) Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm to update your phone number. We would like to keep all our members informed of any necessary scheduled service interruptions.
I was notified. Found a voice messg a day or so ago on my answering machine. Odd thing is my clock gained time with the power off instead of losing it. Hmmm?
Wish they had sent a letter out since it was planned…but at least now maybe the power won’t flicker on and off when the wind blows…now if only my shin will quit hurting from where I fell over the dreaded legos trying to find a flashlight
