Ewell Benjamin Baxley

Ewell Benjamin Baxley, 77 of Atmore, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, in Bay Minette. He was retired superintendent with the oil field. He was born in Coffee Springs, Ala., on August 23, 1936, to the late Henry and Zella Mae Danford Baxley. He also was an avid fisherman.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, John J. Baxley, Leonard Baxley and Julian Baxley.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Green Baxley of Atmore; children, James (Gloria) Long of Laredo, TX, Donald (Maxine) Long of Fort Worth, TX, Sarah Long of Atmore, Yurtha Riojas of Asherton, TX, Ronnie (Elia) Long of Laredo, TX, David (Estela) Cardwell of McAllen, TX, Deborah (Eric) Lugad of Missouri, Robert (Juanita) Cardwell of Milton, Leslie (Leslie) Long of Columbia, SC, Kathy (Larry) Goings of Milton, Richard (Eva) Long of Austin, TX and Sandra Robins of Houston, TX; daughter-in-law, Judy Long of  Washington; sister, Audrey Ruth Bryan of Paxton; sisters-in-law, Ludene Baxley of Coffee Springs and Evon Nowling of Jay; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Monday, March 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Waylon Quinley officiating.

Interment will follow in Spears Cemetery in East Brewton.

Family will receive friends Monday, March 17, 2014, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
