Atmore Motorcyclist Killed In Cantonment Crash
March 9, 2014
A 19-year old Atmore motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon in Cantonment.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Jacob Dale Lisenby was northbound about 1:08 p.m. on Highway 29 on a 1999 Honda motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he noticed 69-year old Mary O. Simpkins of Cantonment pulling out of the Grocery Advantage parking lot in a 1987 Chevrolet van.
Lisenby attempted to stop his motorcycle by laying it down on the pavement, but was unable to stop before colliding with the van in the northbound lanes of Highway 29, according to the FHP.
Lisenby, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Escambia County EMS.
Charges against Simpkins are pending the results of a traffic homicide investigation, the FHP said.

I am so sorry for your loss. I am a mother who knows what you are going through. I lost my 16 yr old son almost 7 years ago. Just know that everyone is praying for you. I firmly agree God Only Takes The Best. My piece of advice to you is to grieve the way you want to, don’t let anyone tell what is wrong or right when it comes to grieving for your son. May God give you peace.
My youngest son & I came through where this accident happened about 15 minutes before on our way to visit my dad who lives in Cantonment. We felt so bad for this person though we did not know then who it was. We want to send our prayers to Jacob’s family & friends. May God give you strength & peace. From what I have read, he was
a great young man.
I went to school with Jacob, didnt know him really well he was a grade or 2 younger than me. I do remember seeing him all the time and he was never by himself.. I have been thinking about him since this happened and it breaks my heart. Prayers for his family… no parent should ever have to bury their child..
I am so sorry for your lost. I will continue to pray for all of the Lisenby family. Cousin Margaret
Dale & Missy, My heart hurts with you for the heartache you are going through. I pray that time will heal and wonderful memories will remain.
Jacob/cob was more than just my stepbrother..I accepted him as my Brother. He would always find a way to make people happy even through the roughest times. He has many friends that always care for him and when they called or texted him saying they needed his help he was on it like white on rice. Jacob/Cob will forever be missed . He may be gone, but his memories will live through us and never be forgotten. R.I.P Jacob/Cob
Angie, Dale and Jeremy..
I love y’all and I’m tremendously sorry to hear about Jacob. I cannot imagine how you feel. I know right now your world has been turned upside down. If there is ANYTHING I can do to help PLEASE let me know. I’m holding you and your family in my heart. A lot of people care and I’m just one of them.
As I sit in my classroom at this moment, I can still remember his ways. He was so funny and kind! He always seemed to have a smile on his face and he was blessed with so many friends. He was truly one of a kind. So many kids enter and leave this classroom and it’s hard to remember every single one of them but Jacob was one that can never be forgotten. We just had a moment of silence for him here at school and you could hear a pin drop. I know that there are no words for the family, but I hope and pray that they may find peace in the fact that Jacob had such a happy life, surrounded by friends and family that love him.
Jacob spent a many days in our home as a preteen & playing ball with my stepson. He was a very respectful person & lots of fun to have around. Even though it has been years since we have seen him we always considered him one of our own. It breaks our heart to hear of this news. We visited with the family yesterday & talking with them the assurance they have in knowing Jacob was ready to go to meet Jesus was worth it all. Jacob touched many lives & had many friends. None of us have the guarantee of tomorrow. Our love & prayers continue for the whole family & friends in the days, weeks & months to come.

I’am so Heart Broken to here Cob is gone, I called him My Blue eyed cute thing. always so helpful and sweet, R.I.P Jacob. you will be missed.
Cob was one of the most special young men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. His respect for others went above and beyond most kids. I will miss him more than I can ever express. He called me momma just like my own kids and always made sure to hug my neck and speak some sort of kind word to make me feel good. We have so many fond memories of him and I know from my heart he will never be forgotten by my family here in Atmore as well as my family in Montevallo.
My heart breaks for his family. I have prayed so hard for the family and his friends and will continue to do so. God bless you all my prayers are with you.
Angie, Dale and Jeremy, our hearts just broke when we heard about Jacob, I can still remember how happy and excited u were waiting on him to enter this world, I know saying how deeply sorry we are is not enough but just know u have a Guardian Angel looking over u know. Jacob was a close friend of our grandson and we are all praying for God to wrap his arms around u all and give u the strength u need. He was loved by many and all of u will be in our prayers
Angie, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Hug ‘em, love’em,tell’em,you never know it may be the last time you see ‘em.This is a reminder to us all you just never know….Faith,Hope and Love…but the greatest of these is Love saith the Lord our God.Prayers for the family…..so sorry.-Ronnie Lambert
His friend and employer Christopher called me to tell me the news I can’t believe it the comments above prove Cob was a GOOD GUY he cared about everyone in world where most don’t care about anybody we ALL can learn from that lesson from him I really like what the Bible says at Job 14:14 when you read it remember all Job had lost before he said those words WE can see Cob again
I was known to Cob as “Yankee”
My condolences to the families and friends of all those involved. May the Lord look over them and console them in this time of need.
I drove by the accident RIGHT after it happened, just as two police cars were arriving. I saw someone doing CPR on the young man and my heart just broke into pieces because I could tell he had already passed. I’m so sorry for this. My heart goes out to his loved ones.
I want to say something this morning. I was told this morning that the young man 19 Years old that was killed on his motorcycle yesterday on hwy 29 was someone that I had the pleasure of getting to know. He came into my life to help move furniture from my old house to my new. I remember so much about him because of the respect he showed me and the way he worked his butt off. That day I had 4 young men to work for me one of them was his best friend James Hitchcock. They where so close and you could tell how much they loved each other ( the way you love your family) MY HEART IS BROKEN in those 2 days that boy made a big impact on me and my family. I sit here grieving for his family. I want to say to them that you had a wonderful young man that touched lives. I remember saying to him to thank his parents for how well they raised him. With all this said……never forget we sometimes only get to cross paths with someone once and to make the best of it. I send my prayers to his parents. He truly will leave a big hole.
Wow! Thank you to each and everyone for the kind works you have to say about my son! I have always told my children that Jacob/Cob was my heart and Jeremy was my strength. My heart is now in a place where it will be safe and protected. Jake could always make someone smile – he had a blessing about him that you could not help but LOVE. I was blessed to be able to call him my son. Thank you again for all the prayers and kind words. A special Thank You to the EMT’s and Florida State Troopers… Blessing to each of you! Angie Gunn
Dear Dale and family, We are praying for you all. We know Jacob was special, he was a very good young man. Pain can drain you but you will need to be strong during the coming days and that strength will come from GOD. Please know that we will be praying constantly for you and your family and know that Jacob is already resting in the arms of the father. He is in Glory and shall have a greater purpose than ever before. When you here him whisper to you remember that he wants you to know that God is taking care of him, he is safe and in Heaven where we all strive to go one day. Please let God guide you during this tragedy and uplift you and make you stronger. We Love you all.

He was such a sweet and very respectful young man. I had the honor to work with him and I can still hear him say “Mrs.Kim, do you need me to get you anything?” Always, always willing to help. I’m glad I got to wait on him back in December and see that BEAUTIFUL smile. RIP Jacob, you have left a big impact on so many lives.
It always seems to happen to the good ones, I don’t know this young man but i can tell by the comments he was/ is one of the good ones. I know the pain his parents are feeling, as a father who lost his son i know thier hearts are heavy with grief. Nothing but time can make this better and even then it never truly gets better, just a little easier. My prayers go out to those who are grieving this young mans passing.
Just speechless …

When you cant find the words that would even matter right now, just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way and pray for this young mans *mommy,*daddy,*siblings,*grandparents, aunts, uncles niece/nephew, cousins,*girlfriend, and friends…may they all find some way to get through this. It must be the most unimaginable pain in this life anyone must endure. No parent should ever have to feel this pain.. is the ultimate worse to go through..
