Four Arrested In Home Invasion Near 10 Mile Road

March 4, 2014

Four people were arrested in a home invasion robbery just off 10 Mile Road Monday night.

About 5 p.m., deputies responded to the 1000 block of Senegal Drive where the victims reported several males kicked in their front door and pointed guns at them. One victim was hit with a stick.  The suspects fled the scene prior to the arrival of deputies.

Deputies observed several individuals running north on nearby railroad tracks. One was taken into custody by a deputy. His backpack contained a large quantity of marijuana, according to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. A stolen firearm was found in a trash can along the path the suspect took during their escape. The other three were soon captured by deputies.

Benjamin Paul Moon, 19, Collin Michael Williamson, 17, and Joshua Aaron Williams, 20, were charged with robbery home invasion. Thomas Van Nguyen, 20 was charged with robbery home invasion and possession of marijuana. All four were booked into the Escambia County Jail. Bond for Moon and Williams was set at $150,000; bond for Ngyen was set at $155,000.

I hope all of you understand that one of these crimminals isent even an adult still a miner and getting charged for something he dident do what if that was your son would you want him to do 15 years to life???

  2. Aidan Arant on April 23rd, 2014 4:04 pm

You guys don’t know anything of what actually happened. You should not call people criminals unless you were their and saw who did what and who got left standing. I can say with 100% confidence that some of the people charged were just at the wrong place at the wrong time. That of course is not true of all of them, but for a select two who’s names I will not mention; they were just incredibly unlucky to be at the scene of the crime or to close to it after everything went down. Guns change everything and one person with one gun can equivocate to three armed robbers in the eyes of Florida’s law. This is the truth. Do not accuse the innocent if you’re just belligerent and narrow minded; look for the straight facts of the matter before jumping to extraneous conclusions.

I believe people who do home invasion should be automatic life in prison. Home should be the safest place ever. I hope they give them the max no mercy.

  4. William 2 on March 6th, 2014 7:47 pm

There are few crimes more despicable crime than home invasion. IMHO it should be a capital offense.

  5. William 2 on March 6th, 2014 8:09 pm

Josiah: They didn’t ruin their lives doing this, they had already gone down a path to destroy their lives. Despite what some have said defending them, one does not just wake up out of the blue and commit and armed home invasion. I am sure that these “nice people” have a long line of escalating crimes and they have just finally got caught. I am just glad they are off the street before someone innocent got hurt or killed.

  6. William 2 on March 6th, 2014 7:59 pm

Kaitlyne these are NOT nice people and if these are the type of people that you are associating with you need to take a long hard look at your lifestyle. I find the fact that you think their trying to “make a quick score” as justification for their actions quite troubling. Running with these type of “nice people” is only going to bring you a lifetime of pain and suffering.

  7. jeeperman on March 6th, 2014 5:36 pm

Funny how so many say these perps would have not have been able to exit their house without getting shot.
Real life does not give us a warning ahead of time and thus 90% of us would be caught off guard and forced to submit.
If and when someone decided to bust in our front door at random.

  8. jcellops on March 6th, 2014 10:57 am

williamson is a minor- maybe thats why his picture isnt up there- victims stated that they came in with “guns” ..sounded like only one gun was located.

  9. josh on March 5th, 2014 10:47 pm

Dont matter if they stole the pot or not possesion is 9/10 of the law im glad they got caught and they better be glad they aint dead cause if it was my home they would have never made it out!

  10. BT on March 5th, 2014 8:32 pm

Sounds like these guys were lucky to break into the one house in the area that had no guns in it. Anybody else would have just been sitting there with a loaded gun in their hand.

  11. Mikey on March 5th, 2014 1:08 pm

I live in this neighborhood and I have never seen this many cops in it. I can’t believe this happened here but they are lucky they did not come in my home because they would not have made it 3 feet in the door before I piled them up on the floor. These punks deserve the maximum even if they did go in to steal drugs. Just because someone is in their home selling pot or whatever that does not give anyone the right to break the law and take what they want. Two wrongs don’t make a right!

  12. Heather on March 5th, 2014 10:25 am

    Love the sarcasm jeeperman.

And on another note, these are not “nice guys”. Breaking and entering with a gun and injuring someone is the quite the opposite of nice. If these are what some consider “nice guys”, I’d hate to see a “mean guy”. Would that be like Jeffrey Dahmer or something? Raise your standards people and stop defending people that knowingly and willfully hurt others.

  13. jeeperman on March 5th, 2014 8:26 am

    They are young.
We should not judge them in a public forum like this, we do not want to cause them embarrassment, be shamed, humiliated or feel uncomfortable in the public.
Oh noooooo we should not do that because they only invaded a home with guns in hand (just for show of course).
They will get probation because that makes the county/state money versus locking them up.
Poor little fellers are surely sorry they did anything society has deemed to be wrong.
But don’t say they did wrong because that would hurt their feelings.

  14. jw on March 5th, 2014 7:33 am

Come invade my house punks. I bet you wont make it out…………………

  15. Joe Bagofdoughnuts on March 5th, 2014 7:01 am

While I’m not a lawyer, I do believe this will fall under the state’s 10-20-LIFE rule and guarantee that these genuinely nice people will do an additional 10 years ON TOP OF the maximum sentence for the other crimes.

At least that is how I read Fl statute 775.087.

Even the crime friendly “judges” here can’t stop that.

  16. John on March 5th, 2014 6:55 am

They stole marijinan from the house. So it’s thugs robbing other thugs.

  17. David Huie Green on March 5th, 2014 6:43 am

Or tell the truth and call bad bad

It is good to see that diversity is well represented even in our criminal element.

They will adapt easier to prison life owing to their young ages.

  19. perdido fisherman on March 5th, 2014 12:02 am

This is exactly why i have weapons stashed in multiple places in every room of my house, even in the crapper.

These are NOT nice guys or good people, No one could convince me these are “nice guys” after they kicked in someones door with guns in thier hands.

You bust up in my house and someone is going to die, even if they shot me some of them are going with me. That’s a promise, i practice regularly just for this type of event because i know it can happen to me just as well as it can to anyone else.. hopefully my large dog can distract them just long enough for me to get a round off at each offender. That’s all i need.

I recommend everybody learn to shoot in high stress situations or use a shotgun, if not you will miss your mark every time. teach the people in your house to drop to floor if someone busts in your house, or to roll out of bed to the floor if in the middle of the night, that way they are not in the line of fire. I have taught this to my family for over 20 years.

  20. Josiah on March 4th, 2014 11:55 pm

Stealing is obviously wrong, and justice needs to be served. However, who hasnt made mistakes major or minor? I am just really sad that theyve ruined their lives for something so ridiculous! Im also glad nobody was severely injured!

  21. JM on March 4th, 2014 11:39 pm

After witnessing incident and talking with neighbors its apparent that home was specifically targeted. Wonder if it had to do with the drugs found on one of the suspects?

  22. JM on March 4th, 2014 11:32 pm

Wow…didn’t figure anyone would defend these idiots. Would you still feel the same if they invaded your home or injured someone you cared about. If they would have chosen my house I could have saved the taxpayers some money. Hope they all get a stiff sentence!

  23. na on March 4th, 2014 11:07 pm

Melissa…SEVERAL NEIGHBORS saw what happened…saw them run…a couple of people even saw one of them get rid of a loaded, ready to fire, COCKED GUN in a neighbors trash can! No doubt… they are guilty! Maybe you should have the facts before you speak regarding something you obviously were not here to witness, like myself and other neighbors! Seems to me they knew what they were after! Plenty of homes were empty at that time! If they had ran through your yard, where your family lives, with a loaded gun, pretty sure your feelings toward these 4 no good delinquents might change! Good thing they didn’t kick in my door, would have ended a little different. I definitely believe in my right to defend myself and am prepared to do so at any given time.

  24. erica on March 4th, 2014 8:39 pm

sure sounds like they were there to steal drugs otherwise why would u be just robbing random houses with that amount of weed on u? the news said it was 3 gallon size bags so come on sounds like they got it from the house they robbed obviously.
when people break into homes they want to do it when nobody is there. 99% of the time a home invasion is always drug related.
Now they have ruined their lives at such a young age what a shame!

  25. molino jim on March 4th, 2014 8:30 pm

Who was number four? As to their being nice/good young people that just made a mistake— as someone said their life is shot. With as many people needing jobs in this area as there are, no one in their right mind would hire any of this bunch.

  26. Thomas on March 4th, 2014 8:21 pm

And this is why I carry even at home…

  27. Steve Ankney on March 4th, 2014 7:05 pm

This is why all good citizens need to be armed and ready for situations like this. Home owners need to be gun owners. STAND YOUR GROUND. I don’t care if your black, white, yellow or brown. Nor do I care if it’s day or night. You come in my home, I’m shooting to kill. I will face the consequences later. Stand your ground people. These punks will start thinking twice.

  28. 429SCJ on March 4th, 2014 6:58 pm

    Interesting.

  29. nod on March 4th, 2014 6:54 pm

Melissa, nowhere in the law does it say a person is innocent until convicted. it say the are given the presumption of being innocent until convicted. if some one comes into your house and kills half your family right in front of you, would you say don’t pick on them they are innocent?

  30. db shore on March 4th, 2014 6:53 pm

You can’t blame the parent. I did what I wanted to do when I was a kid, I bet you all did too! Luckily they’re not in Jacksonville, theyd get 20-life for home invasion. Its crazy over here!! They dont go by the book!!

  31. cb on March 4th, 2014 6:50 pm

this is really sad I know 2 of the four never ever would I thought this would happen really bad why did know one shoot them or hurt them..

  32. randy on March 4th, 2014 6:21 pm

    JAIL TIME

  33. Ide on March 4th, 2014 6:20 pm

Pffft. Looking for a quick score by breaking into someone’s house intent on taking something is acceptable? I think not, and that’s not “nice.” I can’t with people defending them. True friends are honest. I went to school with these guys. They messed up, and this is not okay. There are tons of times when people have gotten killed on “accident” because of a stupid pack mentality and people doing as they please. Society has rules for a reason. Don’t defend them. See it for what it is. There’s no reason for this.

  34. Marie on March 4th, 2014 5:49 pm

Kaitlyne, genuinely nice people knock on someone’s door and wait to be invited in. I know you’re young and trusting but please raise your standards on who you consider to be nice. If you don’t you’ll end up with someone like your “genuinely nice” friends. Trust me you don’t want that.

  35. Diane Ritchie on March 4th, 2014 5:13 pm

    Just terrible!!

  36. Elizabeth on March 4th, 2014 4:44 pm

Scary.. I went to school with one of these boys

  37. Aubrey on March 4th, 2014 4:09 pm

These look an awful lot like the ones I called the cops on yesterday afternoon when I noticed them casing my neighborhood. Except there was a fourth guy, the look out, he is a young black male and was posing as an AT&T representative.

  38. Melissa on March 4th, 2014 3:54 pm

Everyone needs to shut their mouths until you find the whole story out! The paper and news try and make everyone seem guilty they are still innocent until proven guilty or at least that is what it is suppose to be even though it’s not how the stupid law in pensacola works!!

  39. Shannon on March 4th, 2014 3:46 pm

That was exactly next door to my house. And if they are not charged for game invasion with a fire arm then someone needs to speak up and make them do the hard time. When they get out they will think it’s okay to do it again and get another lil slap on the wrist. I will be highly pissed if they get a slap on the wrist. Cause I bet they will do it all over again. Starting at a young age, they have their life ahead of them and plenty of time to do it again.

  40. Marie on March 4th, 2014 2:54 pm

I agree with Mick. Put them away or someone innocent might be harmed during their next home invasion. They did this knowing someone was home. They’re not worth the risk! They ARE thugs!

  41. Alex on March 4th, 2014 2:30 pm

I went to school with some of these kids…how sad…

  42. Lauren on March 4th, 2014 2:26 pm

Went to school with the two older men. Always up to no good. As I can see they’re only getting worse. Atleat they’re finally in justice’s hands! Three less bad people on our community’s streets!

  43. Atmore G on March 4th, 2014 2:19 pm

I agree with the previous posts.. These guys are very lucky that the guy on the other side of the door did not blow them away..

  44. Amber on March 4th, 2014 2:06 pm

Good work deputies! I saw all this commotion since I live right where it happened. So scary.

  45. NA on March 4th, 2014 1:45 pm

They did not steal the marijauna. They were probably trying to get money to pay for the marijauna.

  46. Kaitlyne on March 4th, 2014 1:41 pm

I know 2/4 people and they are not wanna be thugs, they are genuinely nice people and I know the only reason for this would be for the money. You shouldn’t judge people if you don’t know them. Obviously they weren’t intending on killing anyone, just wanting to make a quick score.

  47. wellwellwell on March 4th, 2014 1:16 pm

Let’s see if they get what they deserve!

  48. anne on March 4th, 2014 1:16 pm

The saddest part is they will never get a job where they fill out an application that asks, have you ever been arrested? They were all to young to seal their fate.

  49. Cantonment Resident on March 4th, 2014 1:03 pm

Their Parents should be proud! Hope they dont get a slap on the wrist, if sentencing would be more strict on first timers maybe we wouldnt have so many repeat offenders! This is not Joshua Williams first offense for some reason he couldn’t handle 4yrs probation, I think he might get some jail time this go around. If they did steal the marijuana it doesnt make it ok to invade somebodies home with a gun they are damn lucky not to of been shot!

  50. Miranda on March 4th, 2014 12:54 pm

i had a class with thomas…. i never thought he’d do anything like this.

  51. Rick on March 4th, 2014 12:49 pm

Even if they did steal it, that doesn’t make a home invasion robbery ok. Those people were engaging in peaceful voluntary associations and therefore cannot be considered criminals by any sane definition of the term, even if they did possess the cannabis before it was stolen from them.

  52. Heather on March 4th, 2014 12:39 pm

    Yikes. That’s my neighborhood.

Looks like it’s time to lock and load the ole gun.

And people who steal and/or attempt to steal are pieces of crap. Get a job. WORK for what you have.

  53. John on March 4th, 2014 12:29 pm

I live in this neighborhood and I wish these no good thug wanna-be’s would have ran into my house they would have gotten blown out the same way they came in.

  54. Don on March 4th, 2014 12:15 pm

OH NO!! I see a lot of PROBATION in their future.I’m sure their scared straight and will never be bad again……….

  55. MB on March 4th, 2014 12:14 pm

5pm broad daylight. Holy crap. Lucky they did not come face to face w/ home owner’s .45 or 9mm. Can’t even relax in little ol’ Cantonment anymore.

  56. mick on March 4th, 2014 12:01 pm

Home invasion with a firearm with violence, they all deserve at least 15 years in prison, no slap on the hands, no lieniency, make an example, slam them hard with a long prison sentence, send the message, scumbags will no longer be tolerated, if you dont, they will prey on others again, they always do.

  57. JJ on March 4th, 2014 10:58 am

    wondering the same thing Ben!

  58. Ben on March 4th, 2014 10:45 am

I wonder if they stole the marijuana.
