Craigslist Deal Gone Bad: Two Charged In Shots Fired Near Walmart

February 4, 2014

Two people were arrested after shots were  fired near the Ensley Walmart Tuesday afternoon following a Craiglist deal gone bad.

Darius Arlornio Beasley, 21, and Jamichael Tremaine Tucker, 19, were arrested after deputies responded to a report of  an attempted robbery of an individual and shots fired incident about 1:20 p.m.  near  the intersection of Highway 29 and Hood Drive.

The victim told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office he met Beasley in a parking lot to sell him a $4,500 gold ring that he had advertised on Craigslist. The victim and Beasley completed their  transaction inside the victim’s vehicle. After the money was exchanged, Tucker allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and tried unsuccessfully to kidnap him before the victim ran away.

Beasley and Tucker began to flee the scene in their truck at which time the victim gave chase in his truck. Tucker allegedly fired from the window a moving vehicle at the victim.

Deputies observed the suspect’s and victim’s vehicles as they entered the WalMart parking lot from Palafox Street where a felony traffic stop was conducted without incident.

Tucker was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, robbery with a firearm, deadly missiles, kidnapping, discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle, discharging a firearm in public and tampering with evidence. Beasley was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, and possession of marijuana.

Tucker’s bond was set at $125,500, while Beasley remained jailed with bond set at $103,000.

I like this Walmart they always are happy to have customers. They don’t mind if you come to their store everyday. Unlike other stores they are happy when you come. I started back shopping here because they price match with no problems and they are cheaper. Most of all they don’t mind if you come in often to shop.

Everybody will get what’s coming to them this isn’t the first time this has happen on craigslist.atleast the victim was smart enough to meet at a public place with the sub station there I think in his mind he knew somthing wasn’t right

A CATCH 22, you got to keep it on your waist .
Streets are cold, keep a heater CLOSE .

They met in the Walmart parking lot because it’s a public place. Could you imagine if the victim gave the shooter(s) his address?? Instead of an attempted kidnapping and quick police response…someone might have ended up dead. NEVER meet someone you’re making a deal with on Craigslist at your home or their home. And as far as the ring and/or cost of the ring. Who cares? You can sell whatever you want on Craigslist.

Being a femal shopper that usually shops at this very store. It is alarming, but I am gratefull that I have a CWP and carry EVERYWHERE I go. I never use to think that I would own a gun, let alone carry one all the time but thanks to incedences just like this one I am grateful that I have changed my mind. And you can bet that all 3 of my children 15,16 and 11 ALL know how to use a firearm responsibly, I dont see things getting much better as they grow up. So Sad

The victim was the one selling the ring. You definatly wouldn’t won’t to meet someone at your house for a transaction off of Creiglist.

Some good will come of it. A home owner will get a $4,500 ring back that was stolen during a home invasion probably committed by Tuesday’s victim! KARMA

Something not right here, who in their right mind meets a stranger at a walmart parking lot to sell a $4,500 ring? ….dumb and dumber?

Am I the only one who feels it’s a little odd that someone would meet a “seller” in the parking lot at WalMart to buy a ring for $4500 in cash? If during the “show and tell time” of looking at the ring and the exchange of money did the “victim” ever ask where the ring came from? I hope the LEO will ask that same question.

@mnon, You have to be kidding me. This happened right on the same street as the ECSO Substation(Hood Dr). So it stands to reason that ECSO should be swarming all over the place.

    Yo KL….

How do you figure that “HOOD” Drive is so bad? Maybe Ensley Street and that area, but HOOD Drive is where the Sheriff’s Substation is located. Besides…it does not appear to be any specific area any longer. The Idiot Thugs are just moving around. Kudos to ECSO for a quick response….

Seeing that the sheriff sub station is right across the street! Ha ha ha

“not the first one told us anything” …. you expect them to drop what they are doing to satisfy the curiosity of those gathered around … who are probably getting in the way? Cmon Now.

I heard the shots and within moment Leo was on the scene. From the response I would say kudo’s to ECSO.

It is time that America starts investing some money into America. Just look what we have become. The youth is our future… Not Afganistan.

Looks like the area around the retention pond at the opposite end of the complex from Hood Drive; I went to WalMart just a few minutes before this, and the road construction crew had closed off that access. BTW, I am ALWAYS armed for just this reason.

Hopefully it was the subject that was being shot at and not the one being robbed..

  19. Wharf Rat on February 4th, 2014 7:42 pm

…..so we are waiting for the wag to come along and state “this happened near the Sheriff’s substation.” The Deputy Sheriffs do not sit at the substation and wait for an incident to occur, unlike a fireman. The deputies are out in the neighborhoods answering other calls. Thanks, Escambia County Sheriff’s Department. Job well done!

Hood Drive. How appropriate. That area is almost as bad as the area around the Mobile Hwy Walmart! Sad!!
