Police Seize $150K Spice Lab

February 15, 2014

A routine traffic stop has led to the arrest of two Escambia County residents, recovery of 16 guns, and the discovery of a spice lab.

Timothy C. Edgar, 23, was charged with possession of a weapon/ammunition by a convicted felon and destroying/tampering with evidence. The second suspect – Dante T. Williams, 24 – was charged with resisting without violence.

Just after 11 p.m. Wednesday, Officer Brittany Austin was on routine patrol when she stopped a Toyota Camry driven by Edgar near the intersection of Pace Boulevard and DeSoto Street for not having a license tag attached. Williams was a passenger in the car. Edgar and Williams got out of the car and consented for officers to search them and the vehicle. A live round of ammunition was found in Williams’ right jacket pocket.

While K-9 Officer David Rogers was searching the vehicle, Williams fled the scene on foot but was taken into custody in the area of Hayden Court and Lloyd Street after he voluntarily came out of hiding.

Meanwhile, Edgar stayed with the vehicle while officers pursued Williams. A bystander told police he saw him take something from the passenger side of the car and throw it over a fence. Edgar then sat down in the driver’s seat until Austin arrived back at the vehicle. Escambia Sheriff’s K-9 Deputy Jason Land and K-9 Edo responded to the area to search for the item Edgar threw over the fence and found two loaded firearms.

On Thursday officers served a search warrant at a residence. In addition to seizing guns, a bulletproof vest and stolen laptop computers, officers discovered a spice manufacturing operation, said Sgt. Marvin Miller. Approximately 100 pounds of spice with an estimated street value of about $150,000 were recovered. Spice is synthetic marijuana and it is illegal to sell or possess, Miller said.

An investigation is underway to determine how long the spice manufacture/sales had been occurring. Additional arrests are pending. Officers also are continuing to examine evidence they believe was stolen in burglaries.

Not sure why the police allow it, but one of the biggest sellers of Spice is a store on Mobile hwy.
They make $ thousands everyday, and NOTHING is done about it.
Not sure why they get away with it?? :(

I don’t feel bad for them at all! I’m a mom who has a child who’s completely addicted to spice and the ppl who make it and sell to him KNOW EXACtly What they’re doing & after pleading with them & the store owners that use to make money off of him they still sell to him! We have done everything we know to do for him including baker act & rehab! These punks are killing ppl silently and all they care about is making that ALMIGHTY DOLLAR!! Go ahead take up for them…they can be thugs all they want but why do they choose to drag everyone down with them by making the crap to sell?? Punks in my book, lock em up! And b4 u start babying them talking about how our teens need education..gag me! They had just as much opportunity than the rest of us and our children!! This is AMERICA PPL!! Maybe going to jail for awhile will straighten their butts up & stop getting more and more of our youth addicted to this crap!!

that Trash as you say Mick, is our youth . One might ask , what is happening too our youth and Why , What can we do to change it? Many more questions need to be addressed . Like have they been in the Foster Care system? And What kind of programs for young people do we have to better themselves with real jobs? What incentives do they have to change their way of life? Considering the fact that Educationally USA is last on the list world wide other than Italy . We put more money in military and Corporation’s and Snowbirds , than our Youth Education . Think about that for a while. I’m not saying what they were doing is ok . I am saying we need to put more into our EDUCATION . Instead of Dumbing down our children with poor education and High university fees that are impossible to pay for the poor.

Good Job LEO’s movin up the latter
Sounds like one of them was man enough to be out there with guns and dope but soon as he got caught he wasnt man enough to face what he had coming to him so he had to snitch on someone else. All these boys wanna run around trying to be gangsters and soon as there in jail wanna start telling on anyone and everyone else because there hard and can carry a gun but put them in jail with real gangsters and they start crying and can’t handle it when Crap Gets Real…… Just what it sounds like to me.

You know what I don’t understand with these criminals is if you can learn how to make illegal drugs with chemicals..why in the world don’t you put that knowledge to use as a real chemist and make a difference in the world to help with keeping the people alive not killing them. If you are smart enough to make this crap then you could have been smart enough to go toto college andand make a change for the good

Outstanding job officer Austin, K9 and anyone who executed the search warrant. That just shows that law enforcement is a team effort.

The routine stop, backup and k9 coming to search, catching the runner, and the search warrant.

Good work LEOs! Thank you. Be safe.

Way to go, Officers, and thanks! And, Everett, I agree, but if they were smart, they wouldn’t be criminals!

The convicted felon, has had enough chances with freedom, and walking among those who obey the law, he needs to spend at least 50 years in prison for thumbing his nose at becoming a law abiding responsible citizen. No more excuses, no more chances, take out the trash…as for the other one, most likely he will be in prison too, birds of a feather…

    Great job Officer Austin!

  13. Everett on February 15th, 2014 2:14 am

    Not Very Smart.
