Bennie William Godwin

Mr. Bennie William Godwin, Sr., 70, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014, in Atmore.

Mr. Godwin was a native of Wawbeek and a lifelong resident of Atmore. Mr. Godwin was a loving father and grandfather. He attended the Sardis Baptist Church. His parents, kids and grandkids precede him in death.

He is survived by his two sons, Bennie W. (Melissa) Godwin, Jr. of Atmore and Benji (Stephanie) Godwin of Goodway; two daughters, Robin (Jason) Wilson of Stapleton and Belinda (Kenneth) Hester of Lawton, OK; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Gunn of Atmore and Mary Francis Richburg of Greenville, AL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, February 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Earle Greene officiating.

Burial will follow at the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 16, 2014 from 11 a.m. until service time at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matt Crawford, Mark Crawford, Kristofor Laird, Randall Morris, Scott Barrow and Koty Morgan.

Honorary pallbearer will be Derick Golden.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes is in charge of all arrangements.

    I just herd bout Mr Bennie ! He and my dad used to be friends and think that worked togather there for a long time when I was growin up. I remember goin over to his house wth daddy to get quail to eat rather daddy n Mr. Bennie liked to eat the poor lil birds I cried cause thay killed the poor lil guys . I member thay used to laugh at me cause ai cried when thay killed them. Im really sorry for your lost.
