Animal Cruelty Charges Filed Against Three People

January 16, 2014

Felony animal cruelty charges brought directly by the State Attorney’s Office have been filed against three people.

For an update to this story, click here.

Robert Earl Simmons, age 54 of McDavid, and 36-year old Feather Lynn McGlothren of Century are each facing two counts of confinement of animals (dogs) without sufficient food or water, and four counts of cruelty to animals.  The same charges were filed against a third person, but that person has since died.

Simmons was arrested on the charges against him Tuesday afternoon.  He is being held without bond due to a probation violation in a 2012 grand theft and trespassing case.

Arrest warrants have been issued for  McGlothern and are still outstanding, according to the State Attorney’s Office. Anyone knowing her whereabouts is asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620.

The State Attorney’s Office has not yet released any specific information about the alleged animal cruelty in the case, other than dogs were involved.

Robert loved his animals. Period. No, he couldn’t afford to properly take care of them but he love animals whole heartedly. The heck with what anyone else thinks. He’s in heaven right now with Teresa and a yard full of dogs. Rip poo poo

I took Feather to feed these dogs, I was there, I saw the dogs myself yes they were starving but Feather was taking food to dogs that were not hers because she hated seeing them in that condition not keeping food from them. This is a false claim

To everyone that “knows” Feather and “knows” that she is an animal lover and would NEVER harm an animal. Back in the mid to late 90’s Feather along with her girlfriend at the time and her cousin broke into my family business and stole 2 puppies. They were less than a month old and they were from 2 seperate litters. Both were pure bred dogs. The were show dogs. When we were finally able to track them down and had them arrested, about 2 weeks after the crime. The puppies were so malnourished and in very bad shape. One of the puppies that were stolen was the largest of the litter at the time. When we recovered the puppy she was considerably smaller than the other 3 of that litter. The other puppy was from a different breed and again was in very poor condition when we recovered her. At the time we were “friends” I don’t know her involvement in this case, but I will say this. Be careful who you trust, the Devil himself was once an angel.

I have known Feather since I was a kid there is no way she would ever do anything like this she is an animal lover we have rescued animals together the state attorney really needs to get there facts straight

If she is so innocent why is she running and not going down there and turning herself in.

Feather was not involved in this mess I know she wasn’t, I have never seen her miss treat an animal in my whole time knowing her.,.she was living three houses down from us at the time this happened she called my bf and a friend to help her go feed these animals…. say the ones who know what was going on need to go fourth and speak up and have the charges against her withdrawn….these are as false as they come!

The state really needs to get all the facts on this one. Feather helped those dogs. They wasn’t hers nor did she live there. I wonder if the States Attorneys office questioned the deputies that responded that night. I know for a fact this isn’t true and would be glad to tell a judge that.

I’ve been friends with the Mcglothrens for over 20 years..I’ve known Feather almost all her life. She wouldn’t mistreat an animal for anything. She was raised taking care of the family’s animals, and I believe she is being falsely accused. I hope the truth comes out and that I am right. I also hope that if she is proven innocent, that the news reports that as well.

I have known Feather since I was a kid and she would never do what she is bein charged with. She is an animal lover and I feel she is being wrongly acussed. I am praying for her and her family. I also feel the same as Missy….I don’t understand.

Missy I did not understand that either????

Myself and feather were the ones who called to report this. This makes no sense. She was not living there or responsible for these animals.

I dont understand why feather was charged when she dont even live there? Lord Im praying for you.

Basic needs for life withheld by these two. Wonder how they would like a prison cell without the means to get adequate food and clean drinking water.
