The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office held a  Clean Sweep operation Thursday morning in the Cottage Hill area.

Volunteers from the U.S. Navy also worked throughout the day to clean trash and debris from alongside neighborhoods streets.

During Thursday’s event, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office served one arrest warrant, making a total of two arrests. There were 55 safety violations issued, plus eight safety violations issued to Florida DOT during three safety inspections. There were citations written for 30 code violations and 15 tons of debris removed the area. The Sheriff’s Office also verified five sex offender addresses.

As a member of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Posse, I would like to thank the Cottage Hill Baptist Church for the wonderful lunch of chili and desserts! It was great after a cold clean sweep!

Billy D you are correct! I doubt 99% of the criminals actually take time to read stuff like this! I wish they had more resources as well! I am Happy they are cleaning my neighborhood up!

Todd, you act as if some of these folks actually READ the news or pay attention to the world around them. Most are completely oblivious to anything bad until it’s in the front yard and then they won’t tell who it is!! I’m glad the ecsd is out doing this. Wish they had the resources to do it more

Perhaps there is a checkpoint or two, but I only saw some dump trucks doing a bulk trash pick-up. Perhaps this tidbit of info should have been mentioned so people would have a better understanding of “Clean sweep”. Maybe they would have had more participation also. I knew this was happening but was not aware of what it was…..
