Georgia Trucker Killed In Atmore

December 6, 2013

A Georgia truck driver whose big rig had broken down was struck and killed Thursday night in Atmore.

Terry Kines, 47, had gotten out of his broken down big rig  when he was struck and killed by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu, according to Alabama State Troopers, at the Atmore exit at  I-65 and Highway 21.

Kines was working to flag vehicles around the disabled truck when he was hit, troopers said.  Kines was from Wrightsville, GA.

The driver of the car, whose name has not been released, was not seriously injured. The investigation continues by Alabama State Troopers.

This is so sad and could have been prevented if people would MOVE OVER. There is a law in Alabama and Florida for us to MOVE OVER and if everyone of us as drivers would do this we wouldn’t have this happening. My husband and I have driven a Tow Truck for years and people Do Not want to get over in the daylight or dark. They just had a segment on the news about this very thing happening. Even if you are not able to get over please slow down and try not to wait until you are too close to a vehicle on the side of the road to not be able to get over This could be your loved one in the same situation! You have to be a defensive driver and be aware of other people’s driving whether good or bad. .God Bless this family and the rest of everyone who gets on the road.

Come on people! is it so hard to give a wide berth to vehicles stopped on the roadside? Another needless tragedy that has cost a man his life! MOVE OVER FOR ANY STOPPED VEHICLE!!!!!

Thoughts and prayers for all involved.
