Century Decks Out For Christmas With Pole Decorations

December 1, 2013

Century is all decked out with Christmas decorations along North Century Boulevard. Last year, the town bought 42, 50-inch Christmas wreaths with energy saving LED bulbs and 24-inch bows.

The wreaths were ordered from Dixie Decorations in Montavello, Ala., for $15,047, while the bows were purchased from a local business for $3,918. It also cost the town $2,734 to have Gulf Power wire three poles that previously did not have electricity for three of the wreaths.

(Because your city can’t do much for you?)

Besides the Town of Century is practically perfect already.

It only takes a spark to get a fire going whether for the negative or the positive.Walk a mile in their shoes Let’s have hometown pride. It seems the town council works hard to improve this place. They receive grants, put in the historical district, improve housing and many many other things. they beautify the roadside, have a nice industrial park, a building for meetings and the chamber of commerce. I hope new business can be attracted here and we thrive. I see lot’s of improvements here. “Ask not what your city can do for you but what can you do for your city”

Well, I for one am thankful the town is trying to bring out the best in our little town. Let’s see last year a lawyer from way up north filed a claim to have the nativity scene removed from the City Hall grounds, now this year ya’ll are up in arms over a few wreaths. Why is it no one can let one Christmas go by without fussing and complaining about what the City of Century does. The town works very hard to be the best little town it can. They have been using decorations for many years and some of the stuff they had been using was pretty old. I for one am happy that they do what they can for our town. I know it is getting harder and harder to find anyone in the Christmas spirit anymore. ALL you Bah Hum Bugs need to go up north where the Lawyer is from you should fit right in.

For the company that sold the wreaths, Century apparently made things much better!

How does a few wreaths equate to a better community to be living in?

Right @ $ 4,000.00 for bows? Are yall serious, & yet yall worried about the smell of animals, somebody needs their heads examined for paying near $ 21,500.00 or maybe more for wreaths & bows including the wiring of the poles, I’m not trying to be Scrooge, but this is ridiculous, for a town that has almost nothing. I’ve got ocean frontpproperty for sale in Arizona, Lol.
