Two Brand New Ambulances Delivered To North Escambia Post

November 13, 2013

Two new ambulances were delivered to the Escambia County’s northern most EMS post on Tuesday.

The new ambulances are stationed at Escambia County EMS Post 50 in Century, were they will regularly serve the northwestern part of Escambia County from Century to Molino in Florida , the Flomaton area in Escambia County, AL, and surrounding areas as needed.

Both new ambulances are built on a Ford 450 chassis — most of the other ambulances in the county are on a slightly larger International  chassis.  The slightly smaller ambulance allows it  to fit on smaller rural roads and driveways found in North Escambia.

The price tag for each vehicle was $189,000, paid for using Local Option Sales Tax funds.

very awesome, good use of our tax dollars i dont live there but very happy. My mother in law owned an ambulance servive for years and was the first female paramedic in alabama. she would be happy too she loved to help people.

It will not take too long to pay for them at what it costs to ride in one! I took a 3 mile long ride to the hospital for the bargain price of $600 bucks. Think I will call a Cab next time.
As far as the EMT’s, some of the finest people I ever met. Very professional, and doubt they make near the money they are worth.

Boy, what a difference from the old days in the ’60s, when the ambulance was just an oversized station wagon! These are rolling trauma centers with highly trained and professional staff. I have dealt with several ambulance crews in the past few years, and they are always so very professional, patient, compassionate and efficient. I’m glad to see them get new equipment to carry out their vital lifesaving mission.

It good to see $189,000 spent to save lives! Good job putting our LOST at work. Very deserving for the EMT’s and Paramedics that use these life saving vehicles everyday!

I complain when the north end gets short changed with our tax dollars. I will continue to do so when its necessary. This time its all good.
