Over 50 Christmas Trees Stolen From Lot That Benefits Tate Baseball

November 28, 2013

Over 50 Christmas trees were stolen from a lot in Cantonment that partially benefits the Tate High School baseball team.

The owner of the lot told the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office that over 50 North Carolina Fraser Firs were missing when she arrived Tuesday morning from the lot on Nine Mile Road. About 300 trees — some of which sell for $120 — were delivered on Monday. But Tuesday morning, only drag marks were left behind where the trees had been.

The trees ranged from 5-12 feet high and had a signature hole about the size of a dime drilled in the bottom. The stolen trees were worth an estimated $5,000.

Anyone with information on the thieves that stole the Christmas trees is asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

Stolen the same day that they were delivered?
I would follow up on who delivered them. Maybe they repossessed them and re-sold them to another lot. I’d bet money on it.

Somebody had to have seen something. Even if they don’t think what they saw was a crime in progress, any tips would be helpful. I hate this happened.

Todd – - understand this was a private Christmas tree lot that donates a *portion* of their proceeds to Tate baseball. So the owner is out the $5,000, and Tate baseball loses however much of the profit she would have donated to them.

if 250 people gave $20 that would off set the cost of the trees so the school did not have to pay it back .let me know where to donate I’ve got $20 I can spare!

For someone to stoop that low………it’s only getting worst and this proves it.
I would assume that the thief or thieves would most likely take them to another county to sell them.
    How low can you get?

I saw someone in a Grinch costume waving around a Cash for Gold sign. Maybe he’s the one trying to steal Christmas.

Looks like the Grinch and his little dog are up to their dirty tricks already. He probably stuffed all those trees into one bag.

few decent jobs!!!!!!!!! stealing is stealing period!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously no security here…it has to take a bit of time and several people to steal that many trees! This proves my theory that people will steal anything form anyone, especially in an area that has few decent jobs.

Is there anything people won’t steal? I guess they are going to try and sell them their selves. That is a shame. The kids are just trying to raise some money. Stealing from children is the lowest you can go!

Won’t be hard to figure this one out…
