Man Shot By Mother Of His Child Sentenced For Battery

November 26, 2013

A Cantonment man shot last June by the mother of his child has been convicted of battery.

Casey Lee Leopard was found guilty by Judge Michael Allen and sentenced to 12 months community control followed by 24 months probation.

The female victim told deputies that Leopard, the father of her child, came to her residence on Benjulyn Road holding their 2-year old child. She said he forced his way inside when she opened the door. He searched for and found the woman’s phone in an attempt to determine where she had been the previous night, according to an arrest report.

The woman retrieved a firearm, located ammunition for it and attempted to leave the residence. Leopard then allegedly thew her to the floor and choked her. She escaped his hold and loaded the gun. As Leopard approached her again in her hallway, she shot him in the knee, the report states, because he was coming toward her and she feared being attacked again.

Leopard fled the residence and was later located at Victory Assembly of God Church on Highway 29, the report states, and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital for his injuries.

Not saying who was at fault here or that he didnt do anything to deserve to make her shoot him but the only thing known for sure is that the alleged victims story did not add up to the physical evidence gathered after the incident took place. The biggest issue was physical evidence shows he was shot from behind, which is not possible in a hallway if he is coming towards her. Theres always more than 1 side to a story.

And no doubt that child witnessed “Daddy” attacking and hurting “Mommy” and she had to shoot to protect her and the child. That witness to violence is going to affect the child’s personality. That’s what we should be more concerned about and not let this man contact with her and the child. Yes, he is the child’s father, but he choose to be a criminal and commit violence against the mother of his child, therefore in my opinion he would have his rights taken away for a long time and give the man time to think about what harm he did. Then controlled supervised visits with police officers present.

He “claims” he was shot from behind…but no he was NOT. So no discrepancis just lies he made up. The only reason he got off so easily is because he accepted a ple bargain to avoid prison.

I am one of the few who has seen the case and the eveidence and there is not much in the so called report that makes any sense at all. “Coming toward her in a hallway” but shot from behind was the main issue along with other smaller details that never added up with the report. People are not allowed off the hook so easily for the crimes he was accused of, that in itself shows the discrepancies in the case. God bless both parties involved and the daughter aswell.

Guys like this make me sick. If he wanted to go out and not tell her what he was doing, he would think that it was his right to do so. Everyone has the same rights as everyone else. Guys! Stop trying to prove to the ladies that we’re neanderthals. I mean…jeesh!!!!

Jealousy is a game for young men and fools.

Cut your losses and move on.
