Biker Groups Build Ramp For Molino Motorcylist That Hit Deer

November 17, 2013

Three weeks ago, 58-year old Mike Miller of Molino was on his way home from a Saturday night Bikers For Christ Mission. It was after midnight as he traveled Sunshine Hill Road, not far from Crabtree Church Road. It was in the neighborhood of one o’clock Sunday morning when Miller and his motorcycle collided with a deer, just a short distance from his driveway.

He was down on the road, his leg severely injured, for over an hour before a passerby found him and called 911. He was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital by ambulance as a “trauma alert” with back and leg injuries. The deer did not survive the crash.

Miller suffered road rash on his face, hands and side. His tibia was broken in four places, his fibula broken in three places and his ankle was crushed.

“The doctor said normally he would have amputated a leg injured this bad but decided to try and save his which we are thankful for,” Mike’s wife Marion Miller said. “Mike spent five days in the hospital having two surgeries then two weeks in rehab.”

Saturday, the Word Riding Disciples and Bikers for Christ visited Mike Miller at his Molino home, building a wheelchair ramp from his front door to make it safer and easier for him to get out his house.

“This group of men and women spent their Saturday morning doing this as an act of love which is a blessing to us. We want to thank everyone who was involved for their act of kindness,” Marion Miller said.

It is so nice of the motorcycle riders to do this for Mike. Although it is a shame that some people think motorcycle riders are all bad people I know one of the motorcycle riders personally that helped Mike out and he does not have a mean bone in his body.
God Bless each and every one that helped out!

The Christian Biker Group is the most awesome group of kind folks! On December 24, 2011 (Christmas Eve) they showed up at my friend’s house. (All I wanted to give her and her husband for Christmas was a way for him to be able to get in and out of the house in case of a fire). The group of fine folks not only built and dedicated ramp number 329; they came with Christmas dinner and all the fixings to go with it. My friend and her husband are so grateful for their dedication to help a brother. I am thankful, they made my Christmas gift to my friend and her husband come true. God Bless each and every one of you and may you have a wonderful, joyful and relaxing Thanksgiving.

I think it is time that Fish and Wildlife Agency should do something about the number of deer killing people on the road. They are getting so plentiful until you cannot go anywhere at night without taking your life in your hands. We counted the number of dear on Hwy 31 last week coming home about 8:30 P.M. and there was 21 alongside the road. The only way to control this is allow doe season to last longer and also buck season to last longer. Let’s think the population out and save lives. If anyone feels as I do write to the State and National Fish and Wildlife Agency about this. I am going to do this. This man could very easly have died mentioned above yet he will probably be crippled for life. I feel so sorry for him. Let’s kill these PLENTIFUL ANIMALS AND SAVE LIVES.

I know these people would not expect to be recognized for helping us but they are always here for us when we call and that is Jonnie Gibson and his son Jonnie Gibson. When Mike was released from rehab we stayed the first night at our sons house John Miller, then the next morning Mike wanted to go home but with steps to go up we needed help. John called for help and there were no questions asked they met us at our house and help lift the wheelchair up the steps and into the house so Mike was finally able to be home. We just wanted to thank John, Jonnie and Jonnie for always being there for us. Love you all.

Blessings to all Christian Bikers out there. In all things, God is good! How often do we say that, without really thinking about it, but God is good, all the time. Thankful to God for his protecting angels for Mike, His healing touch, and for all those who ministered to this family in their need. The family of God is awesome, doesn’t matter the colour of our skin, or the patch we wear.

Wishing you a speedy recovery Mike. We have a mighty God touching our lives with endless results…Take care brother

To Thom: So sorry you’ve had bad experiences! I get strange looks myself because I’m a conservative, homeschool mom, of a large family and look the part. That’s what I’m comfortable with. When we are with our biker friends or long haired surfer friends I guess we do look at strange combination, but that’s ok. I agree don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Keep your hair long, ride your bike loud (I love the sound) and keep showing Christ love. By the way you’re welcome at our church if you want to visit you’ll fit right in.

God Bless you for helping this family out.

  24. Thom on November 18th, 2013 5:41 am

I was a biker for many years, had the long hair, long beard, wore leathers and proudly displayed my colors. I was saved while I was a rider and continued to ride after being saved. The problem was that most folks did not accept me as a born again Christian because I still rode. The fine and stalwart Christian riders give life to the adage…”Never judge a book by it’s cover” Ride well, ride long!

When I first saw these photos, I was literally brought to tears! It seems we live in a world where it is rare to find folks who dive in to help someone the way this group did for Mr. Mike! Prayers are with his family as he recovers!

  30. Marion Miller on November 17th, 2013 11:00 am

I want to thank all of you for your prayers. Mike is doing better everyday and we believe he will be able to continue helping others one day. The night of his accident the deer actually jumped in his lap which the doctor at rehab said she’s only heard of this type of accident twice. Mike said he saw the deer when she was about four feet in the air and remember her landing in his lap then he passed out. When he woke up he tried to stand up but fell back down and knew his leg was broke, his phone had fell off so he couldn’t call for help. With it being cold that night is why his blood clotted which kept him from bleeding out, him passing out kept him from feeling the pain as he slid down the road, with him being out their as long as he was without any animal attacking him is a miracle. With all that has happened all I can say is our God has and will help us through.
