Walmart Neighborhood Market Planned For Pine Forest, Nine Mile Area

October 21, 2013

Plans are underway for a new Walmart Neighborhood Market just off Nine Mile Road.

The Escambia County Development Review Committee will hear initial plans Wednesday for the 45,000 square foot store to be located at 9301  Pine Forest Road, just south of Nine Mile Road.

Walmart Neighborhood Market stores are smaller than a traditional Walmart store and offer products mostly in line with the average grocery store.

Another Walmart Neighborhood Market is currently under construction near the Pine Forest Road and Mobile Highway intersection.

somebody now needs to put in a big RV Park All the parks in Pensacola are full or you wouldn’t want to stay there. we need something clean and descent for elderly people quiet and less drinking of alcohol and cursing.

I think this a great idea, publix’s is a little high on a lot of things. Come on this is going to be just like the one in Gulf breeze. Not a big store.!! The one on highway 29 my word it is something else. I have heard that some people from from new Orleans. Has been looking at the food world store.

If we don’t watch closely enough, our planet will be nicknamed “Wally World.”

Wall Mart is over-rated and high-priced in the grocery business.

bologna, has it right on. Walmart forces vendors to sell for mere cents on the dollar so that they can keep prices low. Which is why jobs are going overseas, they need to make the product as cheaply as possible. After my last business class and we studied Walmart and what a bully it was, I will never ever shop there again!!!!

Mr Floral Tree must have some kind of inside info. He moved from Burgess rd when he sold out to the Motel there, made several million. Then bought land where Home Depot is, sold out to Home Depot made several million, then bought the land where Lowes is, sold out to Lowes., made several million, now moves again to the Walmart location. I’m betting the land on 95a where he’s leaving must have something coming there as well. Not a Bad Living for a Horticulturist. Must be Nice !

Tall Oaks rv park will be moved further back from the road, and floral tree and the new walmart market will share the same driveway/entrance

  7. Puddin on October 21st, 2013 8:06 pm

Lets put one near the 29 and 97 intersection. Like the papermill area? Closer for convenience for the north end, but not taking up valuable farm land. There really are too may down south.

That’s just what we need, One more Walmart. People do not realize that Walmart is trying to put all other grocery stores out of business. They force vendors such as coke, pepsi, frito, goldenflake bunny bread ect.. to sell their product to Walmart for much less than anywhere else and the vendors and the company takes the bite. Walmart also has already put many small businesses out of business. What do you think happened to Food World and Winn Dixie having to sell out to Bi-Lo. Not to mention they now honor all other stores BOGO. They use their Ads hang them up in their store. Its called free advertisement.

NO, NO…. We don’t need a Publix or Walmart north of Cantonment. We don’t mind driving 10 to 15 miles to get to the store. That is why we live out here. We love country living… Hated living in the city.

Two of these Market stores, 4 miles apart is odd.
Two within 4 miles of a full blown WM is more odd.
On top of that, one Market by the fairgrounds will have two full blown WM’s within 4 miles of it.

  11. Floridian on October 21st, 2013 1:55 pm

    @Pam:

Isn’t the reason people live in Molino to be farther away from places like Walmart?

  12. Flmomofboys on October 21st, 2013 1:51 pm

Something between Molino & Century would be nicer…
**A Publix would be ideal, IMHO**
It’s not as if semi-trucks don’t already RACE up & down HWY 29 already!
Also, why would you put 2 of these so close to actual WalMart stores?

  13. van on October 21st, 2013 1:18 pm

@Pam – no, we don’t need anything farther north. If you want to be closer to walmart, move closer to walmart. I am quite content with our grocery outlet and dollar store for shopping. Prices are cheaper and you don’t have the hassle of so many people.

    >>>It is in the fork of Pine Forest and Mobile Highway. The southern border is Godwin Lane. it’s south or Food World, Five Flags, Pensacola Memorial Gardens, accross the street from the Pensacola Interstate Fair

The first store is. The new store, the one this story is about, will be just south of Nine Mile Road, just like the story says.

  15. Factoid on October 21st, 2013 12:41 pm

It is in the fork of Pine Forest and Mobile Highway. The southern border is Godwin Lane. it’s south or Food World, Five Flags, Pensacola Memorial Gardens, accross the street from the Pensacola Interstate Fair and ECUA Compressed Natrual Gas station. Or, North of Saufley Field, McDonalds, KFC, Waffle House and Bellview Elementary and Bellview Lane. The ground has been broken and soon Walmart may be the only choice for groceries. Heres to supporting Winn Dixie, Food Tiger, Grocery Advantage, Publix, Apple so we continue to have a choice.

  16. Steve on October 21st, 2013 12:31 pm

That is the address of the Tall Oaks RV park on Pine Forest. Looks like a bunch of folks need to start looking for a new place to live.

  17. Pam on October 21st, 2013 11:05 am

We need something like this father north on Hwy. 29 for the people in Molino.

  18. Sue B on October 21st, 2013 11:03 am

If they would just use the old Food World property, it wouldn’t be so bad. Pavement already there and less congestion. The one at the fairgrounds is a pretty good location but this location they are talking about is definitely overkill. Ridiculous as a matter of fact. I just don’t understand why we have to continue to encourage vacant buildings, commercial and residential, and build, build build…make them compromise and use something that is already available.

  19. Cantonment on October 21st, 2013 8:54 am

    @jeeperman

Didn’t Floral Tree Gardens just move to that location recently?

  20. Elaine Cox on October 21st, 2013 8:50 am

I hate it…we already have Publix, Walgreens, Pace Pharmacy at that intersection with a Walmart Supercenter three miles East and a new WM market going in three miles South. OVERKILL. Traffic will be more horrible than it already is, Pine Forest and Nine Mile Road will need eight lanes in the near future.

  21. Preda on October 21st, 2013 8:03 am

I hope they have a pharmacy a new one in the area would be great the other ones seem to be very busy and I’m sure the workers at the other ones would be glad to have someplace other people can go.

  22. ALittleBird on October 21st, 2013 7:49 am

I think these little stores will be great from unemployment rates and make people happier then having to go all the way to an actual grocery store or the big WalMart…….I was told they were planning on puttin one where the old Winn Dixie is in Cantonment, across from Cantonment Pharmacy!!!

  23. jeeperman on October 21st, 2013 7:47 am

9301 Pine Forest is the Twin Oaks RV Park.
Back in 2007 this was to be a Walmart Super Center and plans fell thru.
Maybe it is on again with the SC and the but the Market is going in at the further south location.

No, it’s not the old Foodworld. It will be across from Gulf Power on Pine Forest Rd. just south of 9 Mile Rd.

    No.

    >Across from the fairgrounds. They have already broken ground.

That’s a different location announced months ago. This story is about a second location, as the story says, located on Pine Forest Road, just south of Nine Mile Road.

  29. Everett on October 21st, 2013 1:08 am

Across from the fairgrounds. They have already broken ground.
