Escaped Murderers Captured

October 20, 2013

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with the U.S. Marshall’s Service arrested escaped inmates Charles Walker and Joseph Jenkins, both 34. The fugitives were found at Coconut Grove Motor Inn, 9725 Front Beach Road, Panama City around 5:40 p.m. Saturday and apprehended without incident.

Walker and Jenkins were released separately within the last month from the Franklin Correctional Institution based on forged court documents. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement was notified of the incident on Tuesday.

Walker was serving life without the possibility of parole on a second  degree murder conviction from Orange County. He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on October 8, 2013, after the Department of Corrections received fraudulent release documents from the Clerk of Court.

Jenkins was serving a life without the possibility of parole on a first  degree murder conviction from Orange County. He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on September 27, 2013, after the Department of Corrections received fraudulent release documents from the Clerk of Court.

@Kiki, They were not stupid for escaping, they were stupid for committing the crimes that led to their incarceration.

Life without parole, nothing to loose. Society is lucky that they were not armed.

OMG, too close for comfort ! Why does everyone drift toward the panhandle. So glad they’re off the street. I’m very interested in reading about the ‘forged docs’. Anyone know specifically how this happened?

I dunno Kiki, they’re both serving life without parole. The only way they’re leaving prison is in a hearse. Maybe those few days were worth it!

Glad they are back behind bars where they belong but not much of an escape when you open the doors and release them. Hope someone starts paying attention to what they are doing.
Maybe the state should consider filling all their vacancies instead of running dangerously short handed as has become the norm.

GREAT JOB, FDLE and US MARSHALL SERVICE!!!!!! I can’t believe those idiots were not only stupid enough to escape, but stupid enough to be caught together!!! They should spend the remainder of their days in isolation!!!! All they accomplished here was to gain a few days of “freedom” and show the departments their weakness in the security procedures (which were tightened up).
