One Injured In Pine Forest Crash
September 23, 2013
One person suffered minor injuries in a two vehicle accident Monday morning on Pine Forest Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 18-year old Jordan Dustin Michael Rowell of Pensacola pulled out of a Nine Mile Road business onto Pine Forest Road and into the path of a northbound 2006 Ford Expedition driven by 62-year old Randall Ray Bell of Pensacola.
Rowell received minor injuries and was transported to Sacred Heart Hospital. He was also cited by the FHP for failing to yield when making a left turn. Bell was not injured.

I see this all the time. A driver is coming out of the strip mall making a left turn in a right turn only lane. The drivers in the right two lanes wave them through the wrong way in the turn lane. Unreal to see these lanes used as merge and passing lanes. Would have been easier to make 9 mile a 4 lane road.
I don’t let anyone out either if they are going to cross more than one lane of traffic. Heading north, the center “lane” is always used (illegally) as a passing lane vs a turn lane.
I live in Milestone and when the county placed a sign in my yard saying “end of road work”, I was crossing my fingers hoping that 9 mile road was being widened. No such luck. It’s worse now than ever; we just have a smoother surface. I can’t turn east out of my neighborhood because it’s always conjested. It’s like playing frogger. I turn west and backtrack up 9 1/2 mile and head east.
I totally agree with Cantonment….the worst place lately for this “wave of death” experience is at the new “cut through lane” on Nine Mile Road almost in front of the Walgreens (where the Ice Machine is) at Nine Mile and Old Palafox. People headed West on Nine Mile and backed up at the light just before the overpass think it is being nice to let people cross in front of them and go through two lanes which are stopped and then the third lane is the one that feeds into the merge lane going North onto 29 – and the cars in this lane seem to think it is a race track anyway and they broadside the people cutting through. Just go to the light people. One of the worst decisions DOT ever made.
This Center Lane is also used as a 3rd lane many times people traveling 1/2 mile @ a high rate of speed… Ya better use caution when crossing there!
I am glad everyone is ok, it could have easily turned out different! I see this far too often at different intersections and especially this one at PF and 9mile as I drive through it everyday. I may come across as rude or a jerk but, I am sorry, I will not allow cars to cross in front of me in order to cross 2+ lands of traffic for this very reason, because they can not see who is coming down the lane on my left side. Find an intersection with a light or wait until it is clear. I have heard of instances where the driver at fault has sued the driver who let them through because “they said it was ok” to cross.
